Do you play the Lottery?

Once in a while my husband will go to 7-11 and he'll dig out all of the used lottery tickets in hopes enter for a second chance. Most scratch offs here give you a second chance. Most people will scrap them after the first chance. So today he went to get more losing tickets. A lot of them if you will. Todays, pile was $10.00 - $20.00 for 1 ticket. Can you imagine plopping down a $20. just for 1 ticket? Geez. I guess folks have money to burn after all. Blows my mind.

$15 a week is a small price to pay. But I prefer to play the state lottery, it's $5 every draw three draws is $15. Will I hit? (cross fingers) do I think I'll win? No I know the odds are too great against me, but if I don't play, then I wouldn't have a chance.

Here in Alabama we don't have lotteries, horse/dog races or gambling ... not legally anyway.

I live only 25miles from the Florida line and will travel for mega this and power that when the jackpots are high.
Never win anything though. Well, won $2, maybe $4, last time I played.
That wouldn't even pay for gas to go get tickets.

Mobile has a popular dog track. I assumed there were others in the state, but maybe not.

I played the Louisiana State Lotto game for a bunch of years. I finally hit one week, 5 out of 6 numbers, which paid $4500+. I figured that was my win, so I haven't played it since. Mississippi finally got a state lottery, but I don't play it.

My wife likes to play the country-wide MegaMillions, or whatever it's called. I've told her that the odds of her winning are almost as long as if she didn't play at all.

Virginia residents buy a ton of them. Gas Station I used to go to always had 5-10 people there dishing out bucks on them, scratching like mad on scratch offs and cashing in right away and calling out numbers for numerous tickets. Took forever to just pay for my gas.

In the early 80's when I lived in Mobile, I used to go to the dog track there, now and then.
Haven't been in over 40yrs. Thought they'd closed it.

Bunch of farmers had a horse track set up in Grand Bay, but that was illegal as heck.
You had to know somebody who knew somebody to get in back there.
Used to horse race on Saturdays. Again, been over 40yrs.

Many years ago, my coworker
lived in another state where there was a power ball lottery. So I told her to buy one lottery ticket for me while she was getting hers. Of course later on she told me I didn't win.

They are sort of my pet peeve! The cards they want the guy at the counter can't see sometimes.
Metro Marts, Pay at the pump and leave is my thoughts. I don't go in them to pee anymore either.
