OK Boomer? What does OK Boomer mean?

Dictionary.com has summed up “OK boomer” as “a viral internet slang phrase used, often in a humorous or ironic manner, to call out or dismiss out-of-touch or close-minded opinions associated with the Baby Boomer generation and older people more generally.” It’s a helpful explanation for someone who is trying to figure out what this whole “OK boomer” thing is about. It took painstaking research to produce. It is also inevitably incomplete.

None the wiser!

Basically it was used to try to affix blame elsewhere.

Those who gleefully used it were like the clueless participants in the legendary Children's Crusade. They had no idea what they were getting into, what was just around the corner, how things have worked for millennia, and continue to work today--but day-um!--they were sure, absolutely certain, that they knew what they were doing.

I'm not big into blame and finger-pointing; it tends to paralyze honest attempts at improvement. It is the fuel that powers the fear of failure.

But by god, I won't accept responsibility for things over which I had no meaningful control. Nor would I accept finger-pointing's bastard children, shaming and guilt-tripping.

I was the recipient of the opinion of a grandchild's mate that most of today's problems were due to my generation. I explained pretty quickly that most of todays problems are due to greed and that comes in all age groups. I assume the greedy would be happy though if they could deflect the attention from themselves and lay it on a "generation".

One thing I don't like, seems indefensible to me, it to judge common behavior and practices of previous eras by today's contemporary standards.

And yet very many seem to be unable to comprehend how this is an unreasonable expectancy *unless* you are looking for a defenseless scapegoat.
