Do you regret moving to Florida?

I was raised and lived part of my adulthood in the Ozarks. Beautiful place. My DH was born & raised in Fl. When we met and married, we moved back here. Central Fl. No regrets. I enjoy the daily afternoon storms, in season. The rolling hills, horse farms, fresh water springs! All of it. I moved here with DH 15 yrs ago, and have not crossed back over the state line since.

I grew up in Florida and lived there through my mid 20s. Now I live outside of Fairbanks, Alaska. 🤯
We are surrounded by boreal forest in a small rural communiy. Our two Newfoundlad dogs run loose on our 10 acres.
I sometimes wish I could go back to Florida. I have many fond memories of that place in the 60s through 80s, but it has greatly changed and become crowded.
I think I would be content to make a short trip there in the Spring or Fall each year and be content with that.
My older brother and wife live in Port Orange. They are fine until summer when last year they had to bail for several months due to the heat.
Just curious. If you don't mind, where did you grow up? I grew up in Tampa. Hubby grew up in Bartow. SIL lives in Jacksonville. As an adult, my sales territory included all of Southwest and Central Florida. I also lived in South Florida, so I'm familiar with most of Florida.

Florida due to the huge increase in population last 20 years has also become bit expensive granted some areas better then others .

It is no longer the retirement state but still top 3

My only experiences in Florida (been there twice), have left me with the following impression:

1. Lizards are the squirrels of the south.

2. It rains every day at 5:20 pm.
Lol love lizards but my area lots of green ameivas which are here to stay , they get to 2 feet and they have wiped out the native small snakes .

Lol I wish .

Wouldn't mind a lil south of Tallahassee, sort of hills there.
Down central Fla on 10, maybe Lil north of the Gainsville area.

I lived most of my life in Florida. As a kid, in Tampa from '66 to '88. In Miami from '88 to '06. I am sometimes nostalgic about those times and still visit but it has all changed over the years and it would no longer be desirable for me.

I grew up in a ranch-style home in Tampa on a canal off the Gulf of Mexico. My parents paid $36k for it in 1966. It would now cost me at least $2 million to move back into the neighborhood. Not to mention the increase in severe weather events.

Yes as you know Florida has become expensive and Summers getting hotter which means hurricane season is longer .

I should have sold and moved out already perhaps N.C or KY but have been procrastinating .
