Do you shop at Walmart?

I've noticed some posts about Walmart. And for the most part, they are negative. Some of the complaints are a lack of an English speaking clerks, crowds, extremely "odd" customers, self-checkouts, parking lot beggars, feeling unsafe in the parking lot, etc. Of course, these are all complaints and it's easy to complain. You may love Wally World. So, do you shop at Walmart. In the UK, OZ, you must have similar stores? Do you have "Walmarts"?

I've shopped there maybe 3 times, possibly 5.

The issue for me was that Walmart came in and undercut local merchants and chains, quickly driving many of them out of business. They also stocked a lot of cheap offshore products, costing even more local and regional jobs. Then along came NAFTA taking away more jobs, and the Walmart link to the Clintons became well known. Walmart became synonymous with the race to the bottom.

Yes, I do. It’s because of the location and the prices. There are enough items in their flier that it’s worth the trip for the prices. They don’t tolerate panhandling on their property so it’s nots an issue.

When we’d winter in the US, there were some we’d avoid because of feeling unsafe. The bigger, newer SuperCenters had a good selection of food. Other things too.

Odd folks - there are some everywhere. Perhaps more at Walmart.

i tend not to go there because it's on the left side of the street and i would have to cross two lanes of fast oncoming traffic, and the light is never in my favor, so i just wave and shop at Target instead.

I heard Target is closing nine stores due to organized retail theft and inability to ensure safety of employees and customers MSN That just shocks me.

How does NAFTA equal loosing jobs in the USA, given that only 3 nations are members of the group ? If US companies cannot compete with Canada and Mexico, what does that say ?

On the "cheap off shore products ". If the American buying public wasn't buying that product, Walmart wouldn't stock it, would they ? You can't have it both ways, low prices are the only thing that many Americans look for, to try to make their money go farther each week. Then they bitch about the quality of that cheap item. JimB.

I only go there if I need something desperately and can't find it locally. It's a 25 mile trip to the nearest one. You're right about parking - lot always seems congested, even in the boondocks. With all the online shopping available, I'm surprised.

All the time. No reason not to. They have food and anything else you want. Garden supplies, furniture, tires and batteries for your car, and everything else. Some people I know have some silly and rather dumb reasons why they don't shop there. But it's so convenient to go to a place where you can buy so many different types of things. I go there at least once a week.

Having links to the Clintons is not a crime. But there is another family I could name, that anyone with links to them, has usually committed a crime.

I don't have any choice if I need to pick something now or need to see what it is. Anymore the only other stores within a hour drive from me are other Walmarts. No, can't say I like it. A lot of their stuff isn't very good value for money. I do order online if possible, and will even order from Walmart , especially if the other alternative is Amazon. Walmart is usually faster delivery and they seem to know how to pack things, which Amazon does not.

I try to go only once a month to Walmart. They have some items that I really like, and their prices are the best. But, lately there have been too many times that half the items I wanted were out of stock. Also their store is too crowded and they don't leave enough room in some aisles. And too often the item I want is too high up for my short self to reach and I have to go find an employee to get it down (but it is not hard to find employees because they are blocking half the aisles restocking shelves).

Lately I've been trying different brands at higher prices at Wegman's, just to avoid going to Walmart.

I shop there all the time. They have good prices and usually whatever I want. I also buy from them online if something I want is not available in my local store. It is easy, quick and convenient for me. Self check-out is plus for me because I really don't like anyone else packing my groceries.

Nope, never bought anything but we did go into the store for a gander round. Then, we decided on Target across the street...

Mainly shop Aldi, local IGA & Walmart for the most part. The prices at Walmart are good & I haven't had a problem with the Great Value brand. Shelves are generally stocked pretty good. If there is something there & I don't like the way it's made or where it's from, I don't buy.

Like @katlupe, I don't mind the self-check because I like to pack my groceries my way. Doesn't matter what store, but too many packers don't care how they handled your food ... smashed veggies, cracked jars, etc.

My local one is not well managed well ........but others around have many things at a much better price ....
I also know people who work for them and most negatives like crime are depending on location of store...

i remember when they built the first one in my home town very late in coming to the Walmart party was maybe was in early 2000's ....
i worked at a competitor of course all the rhetoric was being spread and everyone Claimed "they would NEVER shop there and no one they knew would either..... " funny that i ran into most there.

i don't like to but i go in occasionally if i need to. once or twice a year maybe. idk if they've gone all self checkout in ours yet. last time i was there they still had some cashiers so that's what i use. i don't care for the parking situation or the crowds in the store. it's not my thing. i won't set foot in there in the month of december. too busy.

Like some, I used to but I don't anymore. I order delivery once in a while, though.

Walmart was my go-to decades ago, when it sold Made-in-America and all the employees were well-trained, courteous, helpful, knowledgeable.

Yeah, we shop there

Good prices
TVs are much more affordable than anywhere else in town

Their pharmacy here has better service/prices than the other stores

I don't shop stores according to their political connections
If I did that, I prolly wouldn't shop anywhere

We do cruise three or four other stores for best grocery prices

No concern about parking or beggars

Yes I shop at Walmart, ours is well managed and just recently remodeled, I like the prices, ordering online, I especially like the pharmacy and it's app, I like the convenience, I do not like the self check out but I can always find a checker, I've started going very early in the mornings, avoiding crowds and grocery selections are better/fresher.

We shop at our local Walmart about once a week. We live in a rural area, so the shopping options are limited. Our local Walmart is about 10 miles away, is usually fully stocked with groceries, etc., and has good prices. Being in a nice rural area, we don't have any issues with "bums" in the parking lot, etc. The store usually has enough checkout lines open, so the "wait" time is minimal, and they have a half dozen self checkout stations for those making small purchases. About the only downside I've noticed lately is the number of employees with big carts doing shopping for "online" or "pickup" shoppers.....they often make an aisle hard to navigate.

Used to be my go to, but over the last 5 or so years I have shopped there less and less but stopped for good when a greeter yanked my cart out of my hands as I was leaving and screamed at me to see my receipt. I said no, grabbed my cart and left. If those assholes are going to accuse honest customers of stealing, then it should come as no surprise when honest shoppers go elsewhere.
