I have been really fortunate with my cardiologist and my electrophysiologist (did the pacemaker), and both of them are very personable and treat their patients really well.
When I first saw my cardiologist, I didn’t have health insurance and was going to the community free clinic. My doctor volunteered there, so after a long day of seeing paying patients at the Heart Center, then he came to the free clinic and helped poor people who were there waiting to see a cardiologist.
They were not allowed to do more than a basic exam and medication, but he did put me on Coumadin , which I was able to get through the clinic.
When the Heart Center had a trial for Apixiban (Eliquis), I was able to be accepted into the trial, and he was also my doctor for that, and so I have been seeing this same doctor for around 10 years now.
I think that any doctor who would volunteer in the evenings after working a full day, is someone who really cares about his patients welfare.
