Do you stay up on New Years Eve?

A bit like Hollydolly. Hogmany was a big deal in our household. There were the regulars on TV - Andy Stewart, Kenneth McKellar etc..
Then there was 'first footing' when a neighbour would bring a lump of coal to symbolise warmth and plenty for the coming year, and stop for a wee Deoch-And-Doris - literally, a small drink at the door , or one for the road.

Now, it's just another day, but we will have a dram and toast the new year.

No. I'd rather stay up on Christmas Eve tracking Santa.

Official NORAD Tracks Santa

However, the crafty old fellow knows I am not a night owl and manages to sneak into my home even if I doze off for just a few minutes.

New Years is nice time to be with friends. But, it's not even close to Christmas for me.

If I can't sleep and just happened to be up watching tv. However I don't care about the ball dropping thing at all. Never have. I'll watch an old western or horror movie first.

Yes, I did when I was in my 30s and 40s. Then I gave it up for a couple of decades. About 10 years ago I stayed up until midnight just to see if I could do it. Yup I did it!

These days I'm 78 and if I have my "beauty" rest (ha, ha, ha) in the afternoon, I can stay up until 9 pm. Then every step seems like torture and it nearly kills me just to brush my teeth.

Lawrence Welk is dead and I need my sleep. You wanta stay up until midnight, then more power to you. I need my "beauty" sleep.
