Do you still go on picnics?

I've always lived in a hot humid climate with plenty of insects so I've never been much for eating outside.

I tried to go on a picnic last year with my husband and son. We have a state park right next to us with a beach and they have picnic tables and grills. I made all kinds of picnic foods, hamburgers and hotdogs, potato salad, fruit salad, all sorts of stull snd packed a cooler full of drinks. I was really trying to get my little family to do something together for a change.
They went!
They ate and then they wanted to go home immediately! That was it!

I remember going to Lake Emily, a small lake in Central Wisconsin with a county park. We would get there early so my Mom could set her folding chair under the giant weeping willow. Us kids would swim all day. There was the kids slide and also the diving raft out in the deep water, providing me the motivation to teach myself to swim. Dad would fish on the boat and we would have our picnic lunch of potato salad, sandwiches, and lemonade. And walk up the many steps on the hillside to the concession stand to buy however many popsicles, candy, or jaw breakers 25 cents could buy.
