Do you take anything to maintain healthy bones?

I read somewhere that a body requires calcium and that when it no longer gets the calcium it needs that it takes it from our bones.
I read further that we need vitamin D for our bodies to absorb calcium properly.
So I wondered if any of you have been prescribed calcium and vitamin D by your doctor.
Which supplements work best?
Do you still drink fortified milk?
Are there any reasons why elderly shouldn’t drink milk?
 

I just had a bone density test. It showed just a bit of degeneration in one hip, so I added calcium to the D3 I was already taking. My bones are pretty healthy thanks to years of running and walking. The healthy bones are the plus side, the minus side was bilateral full knee replacement at 55.
 
For bone health and density I take magnesium citrate, magnesium glycinate, vitamin D and fish oil. Plus I have a glass of milk for breakfast every morning, and cottage cheese and a slice or two of regular cheese as a snack and eat a banana several times a week.

In the course of a day I eat several different kinds of fruits and vegetables and our diet overall is healthy. I had my bone density screening last month, and it was normal.
 
Three weeks ago, I fractured heel bone of my right foot and in process healing. My Orth. doc warned me to not weight on my right foot, although he provided me with special boot for me to enable to walk around, but I prefer a Walker or wheelchair, because special boot is too heavy to wear.
I can move around the house now, but it's very incovenience to not able to walk with both feet.
I tried more Calcium and Vitamin D for speedy-recovery, but I read that excessive Calcium and Vitamin D prone to cause 'Kidney Stone.'
Since my mother died from Kidney disease in her mid 30s, I'm very careful to not harm my Kidney, Bladder and Urethra.
Now, I eat salmon and bean every day, not Calcium and Vitamin D.
I just stick with Multi-Vitamin which I've been taking since in my late 60s.
 
Have always drank plenty of cow's milk that in this era is whole milk. As someone with ancestry from northern European temperate farm regions, I love dairy products as does my body. Also over decades, have not consumed much red meat. As a BMI 22 male, I have a small bone structure, and have never had a broken bone despite being very active outdoors. Obviously, much of that has to do with that being active which naturally strengthens tissues.
