Do you think ‘extended warranties’ on vehicles are worth it?

My story about extended warranties goes like this. I bought a new freezer one year and for whatever wild reason purchased a 10 year warranty. After 9 years the motor in the freezer when out. I brought out my warranty papers and presented them to the store where I had purchased the freezer. I was then told, "Oh, that warranty company went out of business several years ago so the warranty is not valid." That was probably 25 years ago and I have never bought an extended warranty since. My advice, save the money and put it in savings for the repairs to come.

Is it a certified used car, Keesha? If so, it is probably in tip top shape and all the initial problems have been borne by the previous owner. That's how my son buys his cars. He just bought a 2020 certified used Subaru SUV with all the bells and whistles and it is a terrific vehicle.
Sorry Lewkat,
I missed your post. It’s a 2019 with 9 months left on the manufacturers warranty plus it has a 5 year, 9 month extended warranty on the drive train. Thanks. We told them today that we don’t want the extended warranty and am glad we said we wanted to think about it. It was a lot of money.
