Do you think civilians ought to start wearing body cameras?

All kinds of things can happen to anybody, today. There's road rage, auto accidents, just to mention a few. Plus, everybody and his mother is suing each other. Maybe it's time for us to arm ourselves from life's unpleasantries. Do you think civilians ought to start wearing body cameras?

I think that the technology might become useful to us old folks as our brains start to go.

We could live stream to a relative, nurses station, etc... and have an electronic minder of sorts keeping an eye on us at all times.

"He sees you when you're sleepin'
He knows when you're awake
He knows if you've been bad or good
So be good for goodness sake..." :):playful::eek:nthego:

Actually, when it comes to live video, we bought a computer video camera, that would install on the top of the screen, so we could do "live video" with my wife's family in California, when we moved to Colorado. Unfortunately, none of her family is that "high tech" and they would've had to buy the same camera as well. Ended up getting rid of the camera.

We have FaceTime on our iPhones, but wife's family doesn't. Wife and I can talk, and see, each other while using FaceTime.

Now, if there was some type of small, like shirt button size, video camera that a person could wear, that could be useful.

I despise having cameras everywhere but it has its advantages.
Just like the camera in cars, it could be very helpful for discovering the cause of problems. It would also be a HUGE deterrent on bodily assaults.

I don’t however use FaceTime for anyone I know.

CR: My 85 year old Uncle has a small inside camera in his living room, bedroom, den and bathroom, so that his daughters can track him throughout the day. It also has sound. The daughters also have one and using their cell phones, they can see other other and also speak to one another, either though the cell phone or the camera. It's relatively inexpensive to buy and nothing to hook up. Just plug it in, adjust the lenses and aim.

Yeah. That, to me, is one of the great uses for cameras if you not concerned with cameras for yourself. Having them reotely monitor someone else who needs to be monitored is great.

not sure about body cams -sounds like mad max films ,but I do agree about home cameras inside as well- att to the mobile to see when your away'
car cams as well all helps in bad situations ' the way things are going in the UK. we certainly need security' not safe it is getting due to higher crime rate
due to many aspects of the government …..

Front and rear dash cams here. Too many crazies and liars out there today. Helps with any insurance claim. I also have 2 camera's in the house that we monitor with the laptop whenever we're on the road.

I don't think civilians should start wearing body cameras, seems a bit paranoid to me. I can see the value of having auto or home cameras indoors or out when needed, especially to monitor an elderly person who is living alone and has some health issues or physical impairments. I don't have any cameras like this yet, but would consider them in the future.

I agree with Manatee. The technology keeps changing all the time.

Plus, having everything constantly being recorded on a camera sounds kind of nutty to me, like something in a science fiction horror story.

as if we don't have enough techno garbage

the phone is fine

even that can be an invasion
