Do you think it's creepy Jimmie Dean has been dead for 10 years, and he's still making TV ads?

Toffee do you remember the song ''Big Bad john""?...that was Jimmy Dean ... (y)

...and this was him not long before he died...

Oh, I do not know. I never much liked Bourdain, but my husband loved his show, and I know he had a loyal following. So, his show may still be relevant. At least the producers are not creating "new" shows.
In that respect, should we stop showing movies, tv shows, or playing music of people who have died? But I guess that question will take this thread too far off topic.
I tell you, watching Jimmy Dean commercials does not make me want to run out and buy his breakfast sandwiches. I do buy them sometimes, because they are not bad for a quick, not really healthy breakfast.

If we took everything off TV, streaming, etc., that had a dead guy in it, there wouldn't be much left fit to watch!

Jimmy Dean the singer was also an actor.

Here he is pictured below, with Fess Parker, star of the 1960's TV series Daniel Boone, along with fellow co-star and former Los Angeles Rams NFL pro football player, Roosevelt "Rosie" Grier....

Pretty sure he had some other roles, too.

Possibly a movie or two.

There was a Jimmy Dean ad just on TV. It starts off by Dean saying, "I wish I could tell you what a good breakfast tastes like.". Being alive might help Jimmy with that. It's like they are squeezing the last drop of blood out of his corpse.
I agree. I hate that commercial. Other people like James Dean and others don't come on TV in a commercial and say: I wish i could tell you what a good breakfast tastes like. That's just creepy. Can you see Colonel Sanders saying: I wish i could tell you how tasty my original recipe chicken is? Ha Ha I don't think so

Remember the anti-smoking ad done by Yul Brenner? He was dying of lung cancer when he made it. The message was "Just don't smoke." It ran on TV after he passed. Very effective ad, IMO.

Jimmy Dean lived out his last years in Richmond in a house by the James River.

We went by there on a boat a couple of weeks ago. There is a big lawn leading down to the river, with a giant Jimmy Dean Sausage logo on the lawn. I don't know if his widow still lives there but somebody is keeping the place up nicely.

Each time I hear the ads with Jimmy's voice as if he recorded it this morning gives me the creeps. The KFC's ads with "Col. Sanders" makes no bones that he's dead. That's what freaks me out about Jimmy. It's this image of Jimmy still working down at his sausage factory. Some corporate entity is squeazing every last advertising cent out of Jimmy. Ya know, like using every part of the pig, even the oink.

I recall an Orville Redenbacher, commercial a few years back, and for a few seconds it stumped me, because I knew he had passed away, or at least I was certain he had passed away.

Sure made me think...

I keep hearing these folksy TV promos he does for Jimmie Dean Sausages. But it kind of freaked me out when I found out that he died close to ten years ago. I had no idea. I felt creepy thinking that his company was keeping him "alive" as its spokesman. Do you think it's creepy Jimmie Dean has been dead for 10 years, and he's still making TV ads? At least, KFC admits Col. Sanders passed on.
I like the retro Jimmy Dean ads and am glad it's his real voice. I think it's much more respectful than KFC's use of various celebrities and voices "playing" Harlan Sanders.

There's a new Mountain Dew ad out that uses a fake Bob Ross painting a mountain scene with a bottle of Dew in the middle of it and a fake Bob Ross voiceover that doesn't even sound anything like him.

Then the fake Bob Ross grabs the bottle of soda out of the painting and takes a gulp.

I wonder how much money his son is getting for selling his dad's image and memory to shill for a soda pop company whose products contribute to garbage pollution of the pristine nature his dad loved so much.

just found out j.d. died ten years ago. if technology can produce tastefully, then more power to them. I would bet some f that money his estate gets a hefty royalty check for each new spot though.

This thread is 3 years old .... now it's 13 years. RIP
Yes, and I can approve or disapprove all these 3 yr. old comments about someone who's been dead for 13 years appearing in TV commercials. I don't know if it's creepy but it definitely shows I need to find something else to do.

Btw, I don't think Jimmy Dean commercials are weird. I seldom watch the ads anyway. I get up when they come on and move. Too much sitting makes my knees hurt. 💃

According to Google, after his death, the Jimmy Dean sausage works was sold to a large food conglomeration- and that included rights to Jimmy Dean's likeness and image. Supposedly, the Dean clan isn't happy with the sound-alike TV ads.
