Do you think it's time to get a fancy phone?

I ditched the landline years ago. Been thinking about having them remove the wire from my home. I think the days are numbered for the landline wiring.

OK, can you get a home phone that has a mobile connection? I mean, a basic function mobile phone that sits in a cradle (to keep it charged) , just like a landline phone, but gets its signal from a mobile network?

I would like to have a fake phone number so I could give it out to places that require you to provide a phone number. Places I suspect sell or share their Phone lists.

Against my better judgement I gave my cell phone number to store in town a few weeks ago, because they had to notify me when a shipment came in. All the sudden I'm getting telemarketers on the cell phone. Coincidence? Maybe. I went by to check why the order was late and it had come in long ago. They didn't call.

Capt, I think you're talking about something like this: https://www.amazon.com/VTech-DS6671...7637&sr=8-1&keywords=Telephone+with+Bluetooth

It's a regular looking phone that can connect by Bluetooth to your cell phone network. You'd need a cellphone that is Bluetooth capable. I've never used one so can't vouch for how well they would work, but I don't know why they wouldn't.

Thanks, but that rather defeats the purpose. If I wanted to do without a landline, I'd like what is basically a cell phone that is permanently switched on and has a charger built into its cradle - just like a cordless phone.

I am like the OP. I dont use a mobile at all. I carry one on my bike for emergencies but have seldom needed to use it. I dont plan to change things.
