Do you think plastic shopping bags are getting flimsy?

When people started hearing about cows being shot up with steroids and antibiotics, some dairies in my home state started offering organic milk- and it was sold in the same kinds of plastic containers. Here, though, the only option a few years ago was organic milk in the glass bottles- not only much heavier to carry, but the deposits required, too.
More recently I've heard of other dairies that sell the organic milk in plastic containers, but haven't had time to look for it.
All we buy is fresh organic farm milk, and yes, it comes in glass bottles.

Janice, please do yourself a favour and try the fresh organic milk, not only will you notice a big change in flavour (so good), but it's much healthier, too. In fact, if you make the switch to organic and have a whiff and taste of the norm in those plastic jugs, the norm has an almost chemical smell and taste to it.

I was buying the organic til they increased the deposit, it was good! When I have time, I'll check to see which dairies are providing the same in plastic containers.
I always bought organic when my kids were at home- unless it wasn't available- but considering how much milk I drink I don't want to drink 'poison' myself, either.

The local store used to have 2 sizes of plastic bags. One I called "standard" and the others "dinky" which could only hold about 6 canned items.

So true what you say about the norm being like poison. That is exactly how I look at it, too.

Guilt on this one I'm afraid, plastic milk containers and yogurt pots I've been responsible for throwing away over the last thirty years odd years would make a small mountain, or fill a medium sized lake.
You're not alone, and in many ways I blame our governing parties for such, because if were to revisit the past and consume milk only in glass bottles (the way it used to be), and add to that wisdom, we'd be able to clean the world up somewhat, but in doing so other BIG changes would have to be made, and I just don't see that happening, ever. We're a wasteful race.

I just saw a nature documentary where they said that sea turtles think floating plastic bags are seaweed because it looks like it when floating in the water. This is what they mainly eat and they can't digest it and it fills up their digestive system and they starve. They are also motorious for becoming entangled and drowning because they can't use their flippers to swim. Some whales and dolphins, too. Sea mammals ingest plastic and pass the toxic products to their babies in mom's milk. ☠

It absolutely destroys me whenever I come across a picture of a sea animal or other living thing that met an early end, due to the self-serving and callous manner in which mankind has abused the planet.

Stores here are not giving out those thinner plastic bags anymore. You have to either bring your own bags, or use their paper bags, which I hate, or you can buy more sturdy, reuseable plastic bags at the checkout.
