Do you think Senior Forum is for seniors ONLY?

In my neck of the woods, people are considered senior citizens when they reach age 62. That's when you can ride at senior rates on public transportation and take advantage of senior discounts at stores. With one exception, a restaurant that's now closed gave senior discounts at age 55. So if SF lets people join when they are 55, technically IMO they are not seniors.
Ross gives senior discount to customer age 50+ every Tuesday.

I wouldn’t mind if a youngster asks a senior related question. But a forum is often shaped by its members more than admin - if a thread keeps getting reported, I may remove it to avoid more trouble.

I don't know why young folks would want to join the discussion on this forum. There are many forums out there.
Well, many of the participants here could advise on investing, saving or "Look what happened to me!" Type of advice.

I ponder if I'd have listened, but still, we can be examples or mentors for young workers.

I think it's likely best to stay the way it is now.

I've been on several forums lately and i do not appreciate what attitudes and stuff that some younger folks post or carry on about.

I actually searched for a place like this, to get away from all of the hogwash. It's why I am here, I don't cope well with modern bs attitudes.

The programming and the Owners make the rules when they start an Online Forum or bunch of them.
One day it will probably sell the forum to another investor and they will make their own rules.

I sort of like not having columns of advertisements but that will likely change to with adding memberships.

Most likely eventually / soon no one will type stuff into a forum like these anyway. Investors / owners then will change the art of the deal too!

If a person under 50 has something of material value to add or bring to our attention, I certainly would be receptive to that.
My concern with that would be that once it starts, the "not so sincere" potential new members will know that all they have to do is pretend to be asking a question to/about "an older person." And then the can would be opened.

There are forums (even a subreddit) for that very purpose... to ask things of older individuals. Even a (extreme example, hopefully) scammer/catfisher/whatever would only need to do a "I have a question about my granny" and they'd suddenly be welcomed as one of us.

If you consider there are members here with kids over 50, then the idea of allowing younger than 50 to join, would open the door for grandkids joining in. The reason that a senior forum allows membership at age 50, is membership would be low and participation even lower if the age was higher. Also since AARP allows membership at 50, if a senior forum had a higher age, then the whining would be unbearable. "Like I have my AARP card dude, so don't disenfranchise me, you old fascist."

Upon joining, one is not asked for proof of age, so who knows for sure that all members are 50 or more?

When someone says they just turned 60, but they have been on a 50 plus senior forum for 20 years, it doesn't take Perry Mason to figure it out, but a good Judge Judy scolding might be in order. Maybe ban them for 10 years to pay for their crime. :ROFLMAO:
