Do you think that some day ( maybe way in the future), we will get it right and we won't have any poor people?
No challenges whatsoever? That would indeed be an extremely boring world. In fact, that kind of scenario was once used in a Twilight Zone episode to depict punishment via torment.I don’t believe any sort of utopian world will ever exist.
I also don’t think it would be much fun to live in a world without any sort of risk or reward.
Why bother trying?
As long as we all have an opportunity to create a comfortable life for ourselves and enough compassion to help where we can, I’m good.
Well, as a Christian I am under obligation to believe in the promise that that such a time will arrive albeit not via human efforts, but via the blessing of the creator.Do you think that some day ( maybe way in the future), we will get it right and we won't have any poor people?
True! One man's poverty might be deemed another man's luxury.I think there will always be inequalities of wealth. That's just human nature. But poor is one of those I know it when I see it things. The government has defined a poverty level, but it's kind of arbitrary. If it means having enough food to eat and a roof over your head, then I think there is a remote possibility that some day it may not exist. But, there is more to life than the basic necessities. Where do you draw the line as being poor?
Is there indeed a communist government that ceased to exist because it ran out of citizen money?“The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.” This famous line by former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher reminds us that while government handouts may sound good, someone still has to foot the bill.
True, by those above him in that particular society. However, far less fortunate people of other societies might be viewing him as wealthy. No matter how comfortable we try to make it, the guy at the bottom of the food chain is always going to be seen as poor.
Do you think we will always have poor people?
Reminds me of this human female in NYC who was living in a room that could best be described as a walk in closet with a folding bed. Well, one fine day, she won the lottery But instead of wisely setting up a business, or at the least buying a house, she began frenetically spending all the money on touring the world, partying, and other such non profitable activities. Then, finally finding herself broke once more, she calmly proceeded to amble over to the same room, opened the door, unfolded the bed, and stretched herself out as per usual.First we would need a real definition of poor.
what portion besides jobs and handout does personal responsibility come into picture? I think with personal finance class as a requirement could help many.
I have worked in places were it was same pay rate for most same benefits...... some lived fairly comfortable and others floundered... could not or would not manage their money.
I worked in places where there were extremely high paid and yet some of them lived like they were on bottom rung because they had zero control or knew where their money went.
see...I don't know how to answer the OP's question, but I don't know about the rich getting richer.. simply because I really believe cash is going to be withdrawn before long, , and we'll all have to use card, and then we will be at the mercy of the Banks and the govt as to what we can spend our own money on....and I think it might happen in our kids lifetime...I think we will as the rich get richer. I'm really scared about this.
yes but we think they are well off in some ways because food and goods are ridiculously low priced in India and Pakistan...True, by those above him in that particular society. However, far less fortunate people of other societies might be viewing him as wealthy.
There will always be poor people, imo. There are poor people in some places, that would be considered middle class in others, etc.Do you think that some day ( maybe way in the future), we will get it right and we won't have any poor people?
Me too.I think we will as the rich get richer. I'm really scared about this.
