Do you use a Library ?

I was at the local Library this morning and it struck me how lucky we are, not only to have a vast selection of books, including large print and audio books, but a computer section, all the daily papers, reference library, clean well equipped toilet facilities, and also a small lounge area with comfy settees, chairs, tables, and a drinks machine costing just 50p per drink

I was able to collect a book and meet a friend for coffee, how are the libraries in your area and do you use them ?
I love the library. Mostly I borrow free audiobooks. I always go to the annual book sales most libraries have.

I go about every other week. I'm a real Luddite.....I still read books. Real books.
Good for you, jujube: This world needs more people reading real books about real issues. I see the media is working hard promoting virtual reality crap books and crap movies.

My daughter is an example. She goes to weekly therapy sessions because she was brought up on this virtual world and now she is confused. Can't even figure what what she wants nor how to find a boy friend?

I was lucky. I was born in the country where everybody had at least some common sense. Of course, we never did have Avatar! Only Davey Crockett and masked man on that white horse, The Lone Ranger. Davey Crockett and Lone Ranger had a lot of common sense. No virtual reality for them; just real reality.

With vision problems, I find it easier to read online. It’s also darn easy to look up a word.

Do those of you who prefer real books sit with a dictionary beside you? I used to. Even though I thought I knew a word, often clarification was needed.
I always have my cell phone near to look up any word, term, date, person, area on the internet. I have a thing that when they mention a song in a book, I have to immediately look it up and listen to it.

I don't utilize them and haven't for years. They are important and I'm glad they are there. Who knows, I may want to some day again.

Being in California, my guess is ours are not as good as some other areas. Also, I like to read at my own pace and not have to worry about a return time and I usually have two books going at once. Fiction and nonfiction. So I try to find books at thrift stores and I do buy new.
