Do You Use A Water Filtration System?

I recently bought a LifeStraw water filtering pitcher to replace the Brita pitcher which I'd been using for decades. One of our contractors, who's very into holistic health and natural foods told me that the Brita filters were not that great and I know they came out with the kind that filters out microplastics; that's not the one I had. A couple of months ago, I bought a 10 pack of Brita filters which I hadn't opened yet, so can return them to Costco. The filtering systems our contractor touted most highly are not feasible for me, so I figured I'd at least upgrade as best I can. More colors are available than what is shown.

The LifeStraw was kind of a pain to set up. It was hard to remove the filter housing at the bottom and the membrane filter housing (long blue part) is hard to pull out if it's pushed down into the pitcher the way its shown below. The water actually filtered one drip at a time for the first two fills! The instructions do say it will be very slow for the first 3 or 4 fills. I contemplated sending it back, but since the filter was used, I don't know if Amazon would take it back and issue a refund. I decided just to work with it. The water looks clear and tastes as good as water can taste, I guess, but I am not a plain water drinker.

When full, the pitcher is not as heavy as I expected, but then again, I am probably not doing a max fill. The pitcher is taller than the Brita. I have a deep sink and it just made it under the faucet. I don't know how someone with a shorter sink would fill it. After purchasing the pitcher, when I was looking up videos about it, I found videos of other ones that are allegedly better. I've included these videos because it may help anyone who's thinking of purchasing a water filtering pitcher make a more informed decision. Do you use a filtering system? If so, what type... attached to sink, under sink or a pitcher?

No, plain old tap water.

I’m 72, already have multiple health problems, and prefer to live life on the edge. 😉🤭😂

If I was younger or had small children in the house I might feel differently about the quality of my drinking water.

I have a friend that uses the Brita pitcher in an effort to control any possible lead contaminants for him and his dog.

I have a couple of packs of several Brita filters. I can't return them to Amazon. It's been too long. DH would order whenever they were on sale.
I'll eventually use them up then start shopping.
Thanks for the info. 🙂

I began using the Brita when hubby began seeing an oily looking film in a fresh cup of coffee.
All he drinks is coffee so we began using them and no more oily film. May have been a nature
fluke due to a lot of rain at the time. But giving him piece of mind is worth it.
