Do you use wrinkle creams? Does it work?

Of course, as we all age, we hate those wrinkles that appear.
At least I do.

Do you use wrinkle creams? If yes, what do you use and did they remove, lessen, or cover up the wrinkles? What brand or kind do you use?

What happened when you stopped using creams? Did your face appear to have more wrinkles or deeper wrinkles?
I came across a website that said creams irritate the skin to plump up the skin, which causes it to look less wrinkled. When this particular person stopped. The skin appeared more wrinkled than when they started using the creams.

I have never used wrinkle creams before. I used OTC lotions to keep my skin moist. But I think I might profit from using wrinkle creams, yet I am not sure if they work. I don’t want to spend hundreds of dollars only to find out it was a hoax.

Can you tell me of your experience?

Can't help you as all I do is wash my face morning and night with baby shampoo. I don't use any lotions or creams or anything else. The reason I use baby shampoo is because I suffer from an eye disease called blepharitis( not serious for me) and the doctor suggested using baby shampoo on my eyelids. So I just use it to also wash my face. I'm almost 70. I'm sure I have wrinkles.

There's a saying...Black don't crack. Even @seadoug knows that one., right Doug. :D I'm 78-1/2 and do not have wrinkles, except on the forehead and even younger folks have those. I sometimes get mistaken for my son's wife (or GF). A dermatologist gave me wrinkle cream with retinol samples over a decade ago...never used any of it. Sometimes I'll put rich, creamy body lotion on my face or Shea Moisture hair and scalp serum, a natural oil.

Since we have hard water, instead of washing my face, I use facial towelettes. Also, I have been taking 1,000 mg of biotin for the past couple of years. Biotin is for hair, skin and nails. I know it's helping my nails, so perhaps its helping my skin as well.

My opinion is that it is impossible to stop your skin aging but, if you take care of your skin - keep it clean and hydrated - your skin will look healthier.

I use a facial wash, toner and moisturiser every morning and evening. Look at moisturisers with SPF. Keep it simple. Don't be tempted by expensive "miracle" creams or very cheap products - a lot of skincare, especially cheap brands, use water as the main ingredient.

I love Neal's Yard products but, they can work out expensive. I like Boots Soap & Glory products. CeraVe and Aveeno. Not expensive brands.

Have a budget and keep your routine simple. Not everything will suit you so, don't buy lots of products. Ask for samples, it's good to try before you buy (y)

I use a mix of brands for my skin. Not everything from the same brand works for me. Basic soap like Kirk's Castile unscented soap since it doesn't over dry my skin. My toner has been a mix of 1 part cider vinegar to 5 parts distilled water since I've been a teen.

I started to use Gold Bond neck & chest firming cream a few years ago & found it worked better than anything else. I then tried their Crepe Correction lotion & it works well too. Decent price & usually every few months I find a coupon in the local paper for the products.

I will use products by Estee or Lancome, but not until I try their samples to see if my skin likes or does well with it. Right now, I find the Lancome Genifique Serum helps my skin & I follow up with their Renergie Lift multi-action cream.

For real dry skin in winter I like Wool Wax cream. I began to use it on my dry heels, but found it worked for all of my skin. I buy it directly from the maker, but you can also find it on Amazon.

There are no miracles. If you have wrinkles, accept them. As seniors, I believe most of us seniors are a few decades late for preventing them. Much prevention was brought to us by genetics. A few nice moisturizers and a little extra facial weight can’t hurt. Natural fillers.

There is one skin care ingredient that I feel actually does help my skin. That is BHA (beta hydroxy acid). I use it about once a week. It is a type of exfoliant and really cleaned the pores on my face and made them look smaller. If your pores are cleaned of dead skin cells it lets any other product you use absorb better into the skin. I use different moisturizers on my face.

I don’t know if all BHA products are created equal. I use one from Paula’s Choice.

@Lilac I have never heard of this before so was curious. Apple cider vinegar contains astringent acids so, your toner recipe sounds great. I buy apple cider vinegar anyway and my toner is running out so, ideal time for me to try your homemade toner. Thank you :)

Your post also reminds me that, as teenagers, we used to use vinegar to rinse our hair - not a final rinse, as we didn't want to smell like a fish and chip shop :ROFLMAO: There was a good beer shampoo too but, later they changed the ingredients and it wasn't as good.

William Shakespeare said, in The Merchant of Venice: “With mirth and laughter let old wrinkles come.
Wrinkles mean you laughed, grey hair means you cared and scars mean you lived! Amen to that.
Oh! I remember that. I believe Gratiano, was saying that he would play the part of a fool and they would laugh until wrinkles appeared. :)

Your post made me smile @horseless carriage because, I couldn't help but wonder if the reverse were true. Would miserable people who never laughed, cared or lived remain untouched by wrinkles and grey hair forever? ;)

Ha, ha, ha! I'm 79 and I never use it. Hey, at my age I'm just glad to get up each morning and make my coffee. I leave all that wrinkle cream stuff for you younger folks!
True. If you are happy with just getting up and make coffee every morning.
