Do you want to be a DNA labrat?

My MD group is conducting a study of how DNA changes can affect aging. So, they need geezers for the volunteer study. there's no money and you have to sign a waiver, and get some blood work done. I'm on the fence about doing this.
What would you do? Do you want to be a DNA labrat?

No unless:

1. They only withdrew and did not inject anything.

2. Paid me a whole big bunch of money.

3. Gave me a full copy of the report.

The absence of anyone of those would be a deal breaker, so don’t sign anything.

Nope! No one is getting my DNA unless the cops need it for determining if I'm guilty of a crime.
And to think, there's people who freely give theirs to companies and they have no clue as to what their security protocols are or what their true intentions in using it is. Baffling to me!

It's the kind of stuff a Dictator will use to weed out expenses quickly.
Falls from a tall building, windows.

I'm in the UK.

But in principal - yes, no problem. Nothing anyone is going to genetically find out about me is important at this point. But to help a study? Why not?

In fact, once I'm dead, take my body and cut it into a million pieces. No problem.

I'm sorry. I didn't point out that the study was to see if your present health was impacted by changes to your DNA. They already have your health records, and they need your DNA, and approval to use your records.

BTW, I used to be one of those, who would not give up MY DNA without a fight. But if there's a relative or two, who submitted their DNA to a data base, you're DNA is easy to figure out. Your DNA is no longer a big secret.

Years ago, there was a huge uproar when the govt. wanted to establish a DNA database. Most said no way were they giving out that info. Then, along comes ancestry dot com and millions willingly give up their DNA.

No. We paid to give it away.

The Public has been getting conditioned to not be concerned about privacy, since the advent and growth of social media, as well commercial providers of goods and services, who are forever 'updating' the Terms of Service, that gives the consumer less rights and recourse, and the company more freedom to share sell the consumer's data to 3rd party vendors.
