Do you want to live without computers, iPhones, etc.????

This is one of the reasons why I refuse to have ''appliances'' like washing machines, stoves, and fridges etc, which work by computer .. because if something hapens to that I've lost the use of those items..

I have modern appliances which work perfectly well with me just pressing a button...
I too don't think the Cell Apps to control the home stuff is a great plan to follow.

Phones save lives. Gone are the days of searching for a phone box to call emergency services. Apart from that, yes I could happily live without the internet, even though I find it extremely useful.
In many cases, it has taken the place of real letters, real cards. Reading an e-mail is just not the same as settling down to read a proper letter.
I dislike the way everyone is expected to have a phone and be instantly available.

Computer chips and their spawn are from the 20th century, not the 21st. It would be extremely difficult to go back because much of the infrastructure that they replaced has now been lost so, barring WWIII, the point is rather irrelevant.

"AI, computers, smart phones, electric cars and everything else about the 21st Century"? AI is just a popular name for to current stage of ever changing computer technology. I wouldn't say it's really a "thing". I personally have no use for smart phones or electric cars.

I can think of any number of things about the 21st century that I would dearly love to see go away (covid 19 for one).

JMHO ;)

I believe that the internet is keeping we oldies alive,
I remember watching my father after he retired, he
didn't have internet, it wasn't a thing then, he had
a portable typewriter and he wrote stories and tried
to get them published, it was heartbreaking to see
the effort that he put in and the rejections, coming
back from publishers, in the end, my mother hid them
and said that they didn't reply.

I am like my father, we didn't study English as a subject
in school, other than basics, being engineers, our need
was more mathematics.

Much as I would like to write a book, I know that I can't,
but I do have the internet to keep me interested in things
and I did find an AI programme that will take what you write
and enhance it!

Still won't write a book, though.

Mike.

I liked the early internet a lot. Now its is so spammed up with
adds. Sometimes it gets to be a PITA.

I just go with the latest up dates and 11 pro. So far SF has been decent with the page not full of adds at the top and sides. Some of the forums make their money from the sales.

I could easily ditch it all...spend my days at the Cottage sipping a strong coffee...soaking in these beautiful Autumn days.

My fall days are full of fall work, Leaf blowing & hauling bags.
The past week was building a 8’ square deck with steps going N & S, to the front and to the patio, so guests can just come from the car to the family room, eat out and enjoy the shade out there with fresh air. The lot is fairly level and the grand kids play soccer and other games out there.

Not a chance. If it wasn't for the internet and computers, I wouldn't be able to waste time in online forums and I'd be doing something useful! :ROFLMAO:
