Do you watch infomercials, the Home Shopping Network, QVC, the jewelry channel?

Yup, those infamous infomercials, where you get another one free for only $19.99, but of course, there's "shipping" charges. How about the shopping channels??? (I don't know if the UK and OZ have them).
Ever buy stuff?

Not for a very, very long time. Back when those channels were new (around the mid 80s) I had bought a few things... still have a beautiful ring I bought back then that's holding up very well for costing about a quarter of what I thought it would cost. A few toys for my daughter... household stuff.

But then I started wondering why I was paying so much more for items than if I'd just bought locally. Except for the ring and two little stuffed toy bunnies, there were no other real bargains that I recall. Haven't seen any of those channels for about 15 years now, but I know a lot of people are into the "pay in four (or whatever) installments" plan... but that seems to be a slippery slope that could rapidly cause a debt issue for shopping addicts.

No. On Sunday morning an infomercial comes on just prior to the noon news so I catch the last 5 minutes. Dr Ho sure had a thrilled audience. But wait, if …..

Years ago I was into a show that was jewelry and gemstones. I liked the parts where they talked about the gem materials, where and how they were mined, etc. I bought a few mixed gem sample kits to get a better look, nothing pricy just teeny little gems. I also bought a few light gold chains as gifts, short ones for wrists or ankles.

I enjoyed some of the Infomercials... they made me laugh. Especially Ron Popeil and that guy Vince, the ShamWow guy. They were a riot!

I bought a Nesco roaster from QVC once, but I didn't watch the home shopping shows very much.

This still cracks me up!

Buy stuff, no. But I love those channels. I used to watch televangelists too. I'd never seen anything like it, and it was all so bizarre. It can be hilarious entertainment at times. I think we have a QVC equivalent in the UK, but not sure about televangelists. No longer owning a TV means I couldn't watch anyway.

My only jewelry is an $8 Timex watch. But at 2 AM, when I can't sleep, I like to watch the jewelry channel. They always have some rare gem (OK- gem knock offs), which normally sells for $3,483. But with today's special buy, it's $28.95. I love how the hosts just ramble on about how stunning these earrings are.

I don't but my lovely SO does. She has trouble sleeping at night, so she may be watching QVC or HSN at about 3:00 am. She rarely actually buys anything, though.
