Do you wear a wrist watch?

Well, right now I don't. Ya know how some people have the gifts where they can do impossible things? Well, in the same way, there are people , who can't do certain things. My 'ungift' is that I can't change the batteries in a watch without braking it. I don't know why, but I always wind up smashing the damned thing. It just never snaps back like it's supposed to, and the battery keeps falling out. The reason I don't have a watch is i just tried to change the battery.

My wife and I always wear our wristwatches. It would not feel "natural" for me to not have mine on. Both of the ones that we currently wear were gifts to ourselves on our 35th anniversary, so they have additional meaning. They are also pretty nice without being over the top.

For what it is worth, if I won the big lottery I would not go out and buy a Rolex because of what it has come to symbolize.
What has Rolex come to symbolize?

Rolex is supposed to signify wealth and good taste. However, there are superior made watches which are far more expensive and really are in very good taste unlike Rolex which is gauche. My mother had a Girard Perregeaux watch worth many thousands more than Rolex. Neither kept better time than my then Bulova and today $12.00 unknown named watch from Walmart. Mine looks just as nice, but Mom's was very delicate and feminine. 20220126_211950[258].jpg

I wear a Citizen watch when I go out (it self-charges in light, and is usually sitting on my desk). No fishing a cell/smart phone out, turning it on, etc. — just a glance to the wrist to get the time.

And, my watch is pretty.

Normally I do wear a wrist watch, but right now I'm having trouble getting a new battery for it. It seems that the jewellers I have called at would rather sell me a new watch than put a battery in my old one.
I bought one of those self-winding ones, which works well but I find it too heavy for my wrist.

Wear a Samsung watch that has date-time, steps, and heart monitor. If I get tired of the face can download a new look.
I get emails and can take calls. Getting News, weather. It is connected to my phone, so no need to drag out the phone

Such as a dick tracy phone idea

It is reachable

Used to wear one at office/lab workplaces since much revolves around time like meetings and planned work. Otherwise don't want something on my wrists. So most of my adult life just put an inexpensive small diameter digital watch with the band removed into a pocket.

If you are a male, under 30, the fashion police will haul you in if you aren't wearing a large wristwatch. The bigger, the better. Of course, the watch must have at least three dials-that's the bare minimum.

I have a large gold-tone watch with a face made from opals, that I was gifted when I left Australia. Whenever I wear it, I get compliments. I also have a gold Seiko that is a beautiful work of art. I wear them mainly in the summer, as a fashion statement. They're both battery operated.

I wore a wristwatch religiously whenever leaving the house but got out of the habit during stay-mostly-at-home 2020. So now I I have to remind myself or I forget. Two of my three children (all in their 30s) also wear watches regularly.

Sure, my phone shows the time, but it feels borderline rude to take my phone out of my purse and look at it when out in public. Plus I then get distracted by new email notifications. Yes, I know "everyone does it" but it feels like an impolite statement to me nevertheless: "This environment and you people aren't sufficiently entertaining so I'll engage with my electronic toy. Heaven forbid I feel bored for two minutes..."

I quite like wearing a watch, TBH. Always have.

I've always liked them. A long time ago I bought two online, didn't know I had to buy batteries, and since I don't know anything about watch batteries the watches are still here unused.
I also found old ones at a thrift shop, but the cashier said they didn't work, they were only collectables. :(

Since retiring and up until recently, I wore a watch only if preparing to get in the car & go somewhere…and i’d take it off upon returning home. But then a couple weeks ago…drum roll/drum roll…i bit the bullet and bought an Apple watch, primarily for the fall down detection feature where it’ll call emergency services for you if need be. (I’d been thinking about it since taking a nasty tumble out on the patio deck last year.)
I’m surprised at how much i actually like this new watch. One of my favorite things is how lightweight it is, very close to not having a watch on at all. I put it on first thing in the morning and wear it until almost bedtime & having it on doesn’t bother me at all. And it’s user friendly even for a non-techie type such as myself. And it does some seriously cool/useful stuff beyond the fall down detection feature.

And, and….oh yeah, it tells time, too….🙃😉🙃

No watch ...my cellphone does that job.
No other jewelry for that matter.

Was surprised when I tried on some pierced earrings last year, that they still went into my earlobes.

I wore a watch until I became house bound. I had a couple or three old folding phones
from Sprint but found them mostly worthless because speakers were so bad. Never had
a smart phone. My only phones now are landlines. I have a Wall Clock in the living room,
a plug in digital in the bedroom, a wind up alarm clock in my office. My wrist watch is in a drawer on a bedside table. If I wasn’t so old and decrepit I’d buy a phone but as it is, I use my iPad to tell the time.

Watch is less heavy to me, I'm somewhat stuck because of a broken back, you are not old and decrepit...
