Do You Wear Your Seatbelt?

If there’s a seatbelt available, do you wear it?

In a car?
On a plane?
On a bus?

For me it’s a no brainer. If it’s there, I wear it.

On Christmas Eve a passenger bus went over on its side on really bad, icy roads. Four people died and 8 ended up in hospital. None of them was wearing a seatbelt, even though they were available.

Recently ~25 people on a plane were injured went it hit turbulence.

Yes, anytime in any kind of transport. When my son was a little guy he had reached the size required not to be in a carseat. He was with Dad, buckled in, just around the corner from the house. Another driver ran a red light and hit our truck. My son was thrown out of the seat belt hit the dashboard. We were lucky there were not any major injuries, just a black eye. He was transported to the hospital and had a lot of scans but he was okay. Now they have special seats for kids, not a car seat but extra protection for children past the age and weight for a car seat. I think that is the way to do as children get older, just in case.

Do You Wear Your Seatbelt?

Yes I do but I do not like being told I have to do it. I got a ticket one time for not wearing a seat belt. I had recently had surgery. When I went to court I had a note from the doctor explaining that I had recently had surgery and wearing the seat belt may have caused complications. The ticket was thrown out. Since then I always wear a seat belt. I do believe they save lives.

Always. When I taught school I refused to attend a field trip in a bus without seat belts. Didn’t get the desired result but driving in my own car was quieter.

the exception was riding my motorcycle. Wouldn’t be a good idea to strap in on one of those.

Of course. I always have. With these modern cars, at least with mine, they don't start, unless you have it on. My car also won't start if a door isn't fully closed. If you drive without it strapped on, there will be a red flashing light and an irritating chiming noise. Even with the older cars, I have always used them. They are there to save you life. Use them!

According to VA state laws, we must wear our seatbelts, but even if it wasn't a law, I would still wear my seatbelt. I think people sitting in the front seats should wear a seatbelt harness.

That is one beautiful automobile.
What a lovely compliment, thank you. The model is called an MG Y-Type. It came out of MG's design office in 1937, prototypes were built for road testing and so forth but production never got started. Like most engineering companies at that time, MG was pressed into production for WW2. At the end of hostilities the only model on their books was the Y-Type. So although it's production date is 1947, it's design goes back to a time before the war.
There was another MG produced that shared about 85% of it's DNA with the Y-Type, it was much loved by US servicemen and many found their way back to Uncle Sam's shores.
MG didn't miss a trick, note which side the steering wheel is on. The model was known as the MG TD, it looked like this and, it too never had seat belts.
