Do you worry about the health of those around you?

We've discussed what we do to protect our own health, but what concerns do you have for some of those around you in your life?

I've got two old fellas I worry about. My brother and my husband. They're only a year apart. My brother is 80 and my husband will be 79 soon. I'm 65, 14 years younger then him.

My brother takes excellent care of himself and swears he will hit 90. But who knows for sure. Longeivity didn't run in my family.

My husband continues to smoke and carries too much weight. It's a shame as he was unusually strong in his youth but proceeded to ruin his lungs with smoking over the years. He has tried numerous methods to stop but he lacks the one important component; will power.

So I just do my best to see that he eats healthily and give him a few supplements. He has a no stress outlook on life which is helpful. But heartbreaking to see someone you love destroying themselves.

I worry and give suggestions of basic things they could do on their own to improve their health like fitness and nutrition and they rather wait until a doctor prescribes a pill or procedure. In the meantime things deteriorate but they don't want to hear it. Worry about yourself first so can help others and not be a burden to them.

Very frustrating when you give good advice to people you care about and they dismiss it. Many do want the magic bullet; much easier then using some self discipline in eating habits and such.

I am very luck as most of the people around me listen and I have changed the health of all of them. Family is a different matter my family runs to the doctor and slowly getting worse and because the family connection they think the doctor knows best. Sad to say I will probably be at all their funerals.
