Do your neighbors drive you up the wall?😭😡

Yes it does. I've watched those shows. Things really get out of hand. I watch too much Investigation Discovery.
I'm hooked on them, too. The British one I watch on Youtube is called "Nightmare Neighbours From Hell," and the American one is "Fear thy Neighbor."

They all usually start the same way, too much noise, or someone puts a shed a foot over the other's property line.

First someone confronts the other nicely, then they start cussing at each other, then someone calls the police on the other (major escalater) and finally it all comes to a head when the British person knocks over the neighbour's wheelie bin, or the American gets his gun and shoots his neighbor.

Blah. Yesterday I was trimming shrubs around the perimeter when people came out of the woodwork shouting "good job". 🙄 Ah go pound sand. These people put me through a lot during the years. The woman next door came over with her dog to find out what that light stuff was on the bark of my tree. It is lichen (duh). Must have been a subject of gossip for some time. She said oh I was wondering it would start showing up everywhere. Ya it will, because it's LICHEN. I don't like my neighbors except for the guy and his wife who live across the street. They are normal. The rest find things to pick at and fight about. It's why I have so many trees and shrubs plus a chain link fence around my yard. Had to put it there. People would come and look in the windows at all hours. One night we were watching TV and some guy appeared at the window. All we saw were his wire-rimmed glasses reflecting the light from the interior. Made my husband jump, hah. Now all they can do is peer in from the street.

Down here in Florida, I am staying with a friend that lives in a mobile home park over 55. Very quiet and reserved. All of the Northerners that come down for the winter have gone back home, except one Canadian couple. Up home in Virginia, I like my neighbors and they "adore" me, or at least the woman on the right said she does.

Our immediate neighbours are nice, and quiet. However some people a few doors away seem to think that having summer parties, including speakers to boom out their music so the whole area can hear it is just fine. A few times these noisy events have gone on until midnight after starting early afternoon. We could still hear their laughter, drinking and shouting despite closing our windows. The boom boom was incessant.
I complained to the council and thank goodness they stopped. I presume other neighbours did too. We have nurses living near, who must sleep in the daytime for their shift work and it simply is not acceptable.

Why do people think their music and noise is ok to inflict on others? Why position speakers to magnify the music?

By the way these are not youngsters, they are all over 50's! Being older has not brought wisdom.

My late wife always used to say when a dog barks way too long; never blame the dog; blame the owner/master or whatever the owners of dogs these days insist on being called?
My dog never barks unless briefly to alert us if someone knocks on the door.
She has no need. We are with her all the time, she gets walks daily. We wouldn't have a dog if we were still out working daily. Dogs hate being alone more than a short predictable time - like when we pop out shopping for a couple of hours. If we go out for a day, she is boarded or we have good friends who come and walk her with their dogs.

Pets (cats and dogs) are NOT allowed unsupervised outdoors in Vancouver, Canada (cats kill birds; dogs don't know about the noise by-law - bark at all hours. As well, we have coyotes that roam the streets looking for a meal !!)

They can’t be out, even in your own fenced backyard?

Constant barking complaints are sent to city bylaw and that generally works.

Our strata subdivision doesn’t allow unleashed dogs or cats.

I seldom see a dog in the back yard unsupervised. My dog(s) is (are) never alone in the yard - they know how to escape through a locked gate plus I find it annoying when my dog(s) bark at a squirrel in the tree or people going down the alley.

yes they absolutely do hate being alone you're so right. Humans' generally hate being alone all day too.. and we as humans can do things to pass the time, watch tv, read, use the internet, go out.. do whatever, but dogs cannot, and when the owner gets home and the dog is so excited to see them, and they fuss over it for 5 minutes, or take it for a walk for 10 minutes.. it must be rotten for the dog ... so if everyone would think of it like that, they wouldn't leave a dog alone all day again..

I agree. My cats are strictly indoors. I do feed the small feral colony. I want them fed and not going after birds. I do see Blue Jays going after their food when they are not around and they also take advantage of the water.

Some dogs have greater issues with this than others. Our current dog, Ozzy, is s-l-o-w-l-y coming around from a very difficult first two years of life, but thank heavens intense separation anxiety isn't among his issues. Been there done that with a previous dog and I'm here to tell you it's no fun. (Interior cameras clearly show what's happening when we're out. Previous pup paced and searched the house for us the whole time we'd be gone. Ozzy sleeps while we're out.)

DH & I intentionally leave Ozzy alone for a while almost every day in order to keep him accustomed to soloing.

If dogs couldn't be left alone in the home for 8 hours or so at a stretch, very few families would have them for pets.

true.. but the fact they can be left alone safely..doesn't mean they should be. I strongly feel if you're going to leave the house every day for long periods then there gould be no dogs.. or at least 2...

My daughter installed those cameras. Her dog did basically the same things when she was away as it did when the family was home. Sleep, wander around, etc, sleep. The only difference was it got to sleep on one chair where it knew it wasn’t allowed. He‘d look around and hop up.

The way I understand it is this: those neighbours with the loud speakers that party from early afternoon to past midnight are pure ignorant. Yes, ignorant. They were born ignorant, went to school ignorant, got married, had kids but stayed ignorant. Now, that they are retired they are still ignorant.

I'm sorry for you. I thought I had it tough with motorcycles but you are worst off. I know what I would do with those ignorant neighbours but I can't print it here or my post would get deleted. Use you imagination for the permanent "cure" to your problem!

Well, the council will act if noise is persistent. What can be done but to cause the legal ways open to us?

For me noise is the most intrusive of attacks, to shatter peoples' peaceful lives is really unforgivable.

As i read this i look out the window ....... it has been a year plus since neighbors moved in our yard goes up to their drive about 1 foot of grass is actually theirs but i mow etc ...... told them to feel free when they moved in to walk thru yard IF needed ......while moving in etc

Now they think yard is theirs they have junk all over my lawn have to move to even mow. .........my lawn was the envy of whole neighborhood .... this neighbor decided there was a dip far from his area that is adjacent to his .......... he dumped a yard of top soil over dip area to smooth it out looks like i have a grave in middle of yard..... and killed all my green lawn told me his wife is clumsy and he was afraid she would trip ........ why would she be 5-10 feet into my property? ........ i hope everyday they decide to move as they took a loverly home and created a big fixer upper by one BAD DIY project after another.

In my 2-story townhouse 4-plex all my current neighbors like this person tend to be quiet. That noted, living in an urban retail and residential district, plenty of traffic noise so use ear plugs most nights.

No problems with either of my neighbors, in fact one helped me when I fell
outside a year ago, and sometimes brings me cookies...she is a nurse in town here....other is a guy around 50'ish something, okay guy, but does become a pain sometimes in regards to lawn work, or limb removal...but could be worse....
