Do your pets have funny little habits?

Hi everyone,

I was watching my little dog earlier(Charlie) and it got me thinking about the funny little habits pets develop over the years. Mine insists on spinning in a circle before settling down, even if the blanket is already perfectly flat. I have no idea why but he does it every single time.

Do your pets have any funny or quirky habits that always make you smile?

Yes, my cats love to steal spots from each other. It is funny to watch!
Elsa loves to steal food from Elliot even if she has food in her own bowl.
Elsa loves to play hide and seek. She just peeks around the corner to initiate the game.
Elliot does not like to play. He comes into the room and plops on his side.
I can watch them all day long!šŸ™‚

Ha, Charlie does the same thing with his blanket! Elsa sounds like a little troublemaker. Does Elliot ever try to stop her, or just lie there and watch?

Marley used to take one corner of her bed cover and pull it up and over into the bed at night. Then she would turn her back to it and go to sleep. I never could figure out what that meant to her.
Do you think Marley was making her own little nest or just ā€œclaiming her spotā€?

They both are rescues. Elsa was 8 weeks old when we got her. We thought she might like to have a friend, so we adopted Elliot. He was 1 year old and had live in different shelters from birth. Elliot is very low key and rather submissive. We have to control Elsa at times because she likes to take over but she is not a mean cat.

Wow, it sounds like Elsa really runs the show! I love how Elliot just goes with the flow. Do they have any little ā€œrulesā€ at home, like who gets which spot on the couch, or who gets the first bite at dinner?

Elsa is more of my cat and Elliot is closer to my husband. They do have their spot on the couch. Elsa likes to sleep on top of the sofa, Elliot likes to snuggle with us.
For the food, they get fed 4 times a day. Elsa will let me know by standing in front of the pantry door, meowing like she has not eaten in 15 days! This alerts Elliot that comes to the rescue and opens the pantry door! I supervise the meals to make sure Elliot gets his share!

I think most dogs do they circling around thing before they lay down. Ours do the circling around thing and digging at the blanket or dog bed thing before settling down. It’s like there’s some invisible sand there that they have to smooth out first.

Our dogs have all kinds of silly quirks but I guess we ALL do to some extent.

When Audrey moved in with me around a year and a half ago, she had all kinds of odd habits. She wasn't playful, though, but recently it's like she developed a game:

she picks up one of her pom-poms in her mouth (see image), runs into the bathroom, somehow tosses it over the edge/side of the tub/shower, and then runs around meowing waiting for me to go get it for her.. 🤣

P.S. Audrey is a cat
