Does anyone else here watch the Doctor Blake Mysteries? It is an Australian period mystery series set in the late 50s/early 60s. There’s a lot of attention to detail for the time period. Brings back memories. The writing is interesting for the time period and makes me think all countries had common challenges faced then (I’m in the US). The acting is very natural and believable.

I stumbled upon it watching my local PBS channel, as I tend to like period drama and a lot of the UK programs PBS shows.

The down side is Doctor Blake Mysteries was canceled recently. There’s a petition to save it or reverse the decision.

I do have the series on DVD to watch when I want. Was just wondering if anyone else here had come across it.
 

I watched for a while (I watch a lot of PBS) but had a problem following. Can't remember what it was exactly, the accents?, the story line? I did try watching because I don't like most of what's on "regular" tv. I end up watching PBS, The Weather Channel, National Geographic
 
I always watch with the closed captioning on, but I usually wind up doing that for most programs nowadays. The main character, Lucien, I can understand, but captioning helps with some of the others. About 80 % of the programs I watch are on PBS.
