Doctor's Auto reminder phone call

I received an automated call from my ophthalmologist asking to confirm my appointment for a follow-up visit on Thursday. I didn't know how to respond. I though all non-essential medical services were on hold. Should I accept or cancel?

Eye doctors shouldn't be very impacted by this virus....Yet. If you have an appointment, and can get there, do it. Who knows....a month from now, any number of medical, dental, vision services, etc., might be shut down.

Why wouldn't they be impacted? For an eye exam they are right in your face. Personally I'd skip it. I agree with Deb... I thought all "non-essential" appointments were cancelled.

Deb--why don't you call them and ask??

I will when the open tomorrow - I received the call at 6 pm last night which was also surprising. Maybe that's the way they set it up. I only question it because it is just a follow-up visit (i.e extra bill for the insurance), not for an urgent need.

Since it's just a follow up, I would definitely cancel it or at least postpone it.

All of my doctor and dental appointments have been cancelled by them. They're not even rescheduling yet.

I have eye surgery next month. They're been cagy about it but I'll bet it will be cancelled.

Those automated calls seldom actually come from the office itself. It's usually a service, often in another state. Confirmation calls from my doctor's office always show up as "Arizona" on the caller ID. We're all in Florida, last time I looked. Maybe the service hasn't received the cancellations from the actual doctor's office yet.
