Does a word ever get on your nerves ?..

"Inclusion" and "Inclusivity" I got news for those people patting themselves for saying it: It's never going to happen. Not everyone can ever feel included. Take it from someone who knows.

I've been in this thread without being able to think of any word or phrase that is anything other than just mildly annoying and not worth bringing up, but I just thought of one that goes beyond that for me. I don't know why it bothers me, but,

"That's what I'm talkin' about,"

really does get under my skin. It's always said in a situation where the speaker has never talked about it before and then wants to sound like he's been the foremost advocate of whatever he's never advocated for in his life.

OK, it's silly to be bothered by something that is intentionally meant to be silly (although I don't know if that's how it's intended or not), but I'll do my own introspection to understand why this one is especially annoying, and hopefully leave it behind and then get on with my life.

Think outside the box is an office phrase that comes to mind.

The word "now" when used at the beginning of a sentence for no reason. (Usually used in a teaching or reporting mode)

It may not be an exact word but the use outside of it's definition
I keep seeing these commercials that say "EARN " cash back on purchases ....... you are not earning ........ you are simply getting a 1% discount on amount you have spent from a app or credit card that then tuns around and sells your data to a marketing group for a heck of a lot more.....
or reselling used items... the only way you are EARNING is if you sell for more then you originally paid for it

"MOVING FORWARD" Yup! Everyone here in Canada is moving forward. They all are saying that we have to move this thing forward. All the politicians are "moving forward. The whole country sounds like a jungle of parrots all mouthing about "moving forward." I find it sooooooooooooooo boring! What happened to education? What happened to learning new words and phrases?

We are "moving forward" on climate change. We are "moving forward" on sex abuse. We are "moving forward" on taxation. We are "moving forward" on education reform.

Yet with all this "moving forward" you think there are huge changes coming around. Ha, ha! It's all a bunch of hot air. Lots of bull but very little, if any, meaningful progress. As always, talk is cheap. Real progress very difficult to come by.
