In a different thread "what is for dinner" I said you must mean supper, I eat breakfast, dinner (noon meal) and supper (evening meal). I posted there that my father (who would be 109) worked in the shop and carried a "lunch" pail. after thinking about it I think he called it his "dinner bucket."
 

My daughter and her husband , in California, always have a protein drink in the morning,
and combine lunch and dinner (or supper, depending on where you live) in mid-afternoon.
They are both incredibly healthy!
I've been doing that too, for the last month or so, and I feel GREAT!
 
We eat a good breakfast, then a light snack, an apple, or banana, etc., around the noon hour, and eat a moderate Supper around 5PM. I've found that if I eat Supper fairly late, or eat a big supper, I have a bit of trouble falling asleep at bedtime....due to the lack of any real physical activity after mid-afternoon.

Shady Pines South Feeding Trough Hours:

Breakfast: 7:00 AM until 8:00 AM Daily

Brunch: 9:30 AM until 10:00 AM (Mon-Fri only)

Lunch: 11:30 AM until 1:00 PM (Daily)

Dinner: 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM (Daily)

Happy 1/2 hour Friday and Saturday only: 6:15 PM until 6:45 PM Red wine, white wine and lite beer.

Snicks and snacks: 7:00 PM until 8:00 PM (Nightly)
 
No evening meal for myself anymore .... I like a big breakfast, and a late lunch only. I feel best that way, and can get to sleep easy.

On the other hand, my dog only likes to eat in the evening. He has dry dog food, so it can sit out for him when he wants it.
And he likes a couple treats to chew on in the morning after his early walk.

When I was a kid the noon meal, served at home, was dinner.

The evening meal was mainly scraps/leftovers from dinner, we referred to it as supper or tea.

These days I usually eat quick small meals and only have proper dinners on holidays.

I think that our work habits had a direct impact on American eating habits, especially during and following WWII.

At my grandmother’s farm it was understood that anyone visiting or working on the place at mealtime would be included as part of the family.
 
Breakfast, lunch and dinner/supper. I use those words interchangeably.

When a kid visiting the family farm, breakfast was a big meal, at noon a hot meal was called dinner and in the evening the main meal was supper. The men did hard physical labour all day. They probably never realized the lady of the house worked very hard too. Dinner and supper usually meant a freshly made pie or cake for dessert.
 
When I was a child, my parents had breakfast, lunch, and supper. When I had my own household, we had breakfast, lunch, and dinner. As an empty-nester I try for lunch and dinner, but occasionally get sidetracked if I'm busy or tired.

A common thing in both their households and mine was snacking was rare. It wasn't forbidden, but the idea was if you have 3 good meals per day you don't really want anything else. I wondered if that was one reason none of us developed weight problems.

Still do…..except I don’t eat breakfast, but may have yogurt or fruit mid morning……lunch always at 12…..supper, no earlier than 6:30.
Try to eat supper as late as possible, in order to cut down on bedtime snack, rarely works….very bad for nite snacks.
 
My relatives in NC called it breakfast, dinner and supper. I call it breakfast, lunch and dinner.

I don't eat breakfast.

I eat lunch at noon, usually a salad. I always drink beet root juice at lunchtime to improve my oxygen level and energy for the gym. I sometimes find myself hungry again after working out, so I come home and eat leftover proteins (chicken, fish, etc.) that we didn't finish during previous dinners.

We eat dinner at either 5:30pm or 6:15pm, depending on when my partner gets home. It is a full meal (protein, starch, vegetables). I always have something hot and low calorie to snack on at about 9pm (Shrimp Paella, Bison Quinoa from Snap Kitchen). So, I'm essentially fasting for 14-15 hours.

I have found that recently my appetite has decreased, even though I'm more active than I was before I retired. I used to be ravenous by lunchtime when I was working. I could finish whatever meal was put in front of me in one sitting. Now I take half home. I think it's because of the salads at lunch and smaller portions for dinner.
