...which,contrary to popular myth,is REALLY good on corners-particularly out in the rustics,where I live,with twists and s-bends,etc.
I have to say,for steadfast,reliable grip,Avon are the tyres to have on a V-Max. Pirelli actually,in truth are a bit slippy in tight corners...

What a great thread. I’m really enjoying the pictures. I never had anyone take pictures of me on either of my motorcycles and wish I did just for the memories but I do have pics of my last bike somewhere. I’ll try and find them.

Yup, hubby and I own two Harleys, (really need to sell one of them) and I only do my riding from the back, never driven one. Lately I've been turning down opportunities to ride because there were so many horrible motorcycle accidents - I'm starting to get too nervous to enjoy it, darn it. Maybe this spring and summer, when I'm retired and more relaxed.....

Your Yamaha was a similar style to my Kawasaki . I found it comfortable driving like that. It’s more aerodynamic in design. Less fatigue after long drives, however Harley’s and Indians are much better quality.

Did you change your shocks too? Handgrips? Baffle? :laugh:
 
I'm sure glad I looked at the thread before I posted as I was going to just say "I've never cared for horses".

I've been on a bike a few times but never cared for it. I was always glad when my son's got rid of theirs.

RR, those are our gals! Clarissa and Jennifer! I miss those ladies. No, I mean Jennifer and Clarissa.

Those types of burns can be horrendous.
My brother did that once and it was raw like you said for a long time. It took weeks to heal and with injuries like that, they scab over and have to be covered otherwise stuff gets embedded in the wound. They are serious injuries.


Oddly enough I’ve never been seriously injured while driving a motorcycle but broke both sides of my collarbone riding my bicycle back and forth to work. Two times and was in hospital with amnesia for three days. I swear that I was just really lucky driving motorcycles because they’ve been plenty of times I should have wiped out but didn’t.

Yes,Keesha,I did raise the bars two inches on the FJ-but the shocks were superb,once it had Avons,with the vee-cut corners to the tyres.
I didn't feel right with the Pirellis it has initially...just didn't feel 'locked' to the road.
I tried a set of Goodyears-which were ok,but out on the twisties,they were 'reluctant',sort of 'slow' to transfer weight.
The Avons...well,they were a world above their competition. Grip,weight transfer,spread,they just 'did it',regardless of what speed was current.
I did have a 1000cc Kawasaki-a shaftie. That was an excellent bike-it just 'pulled',gripping steadfastly regardless of weather or terrain.
Unfortunately,I was belted off it on a roundabout by some prat who was RACING his mate! Luckily,the incident was captured on another car's dashcam.
He whacked me right in the side,knocked me thirty feet and my bike got driven over and he got stuck on it.
I got a broken ankle and two pins,he got 18 months,as he was so drunk he actually couldn't speak to the police that arrived.

But meh-that's just life,babe. The V-Max was my replacement bike,..and it's EXCELLENT!
Best I've got from it was the speedo showing 168mph down the A1 toward Turin,in Italy.
In the UK,I tend to keep to speed limits...but it HAS done 160 down the A12...[naughty moi]
 
I really liked a good set of tires that could stick to the road . At a 168 miles per hour I guess you did also. Wow that’s fast.
I’ve never driven that fast on a motorcycle but was once pulled over by a cop doing 220 kilometres an hour driving a friends car. It was the women’s first day on the job as a police officer and she thought for sure that she was being set up as some type of initiation into the police force. She was laughing and looking around for cameras and stuff. For a moment I considered going along with it but I decided to be truthful and take responsibility for my craziness. If she were to do what she was supposed to do my friends car would have been confiscated and I could have lost my license but she was having too much fun being entertained so she reduced my fine greatly; thank goodness.

Another time I was driving my bike home after a midnight swim in the quarry. I used to go in the middle of the night since it was so peaceful and quiet. On my way back home I got pulled over by two cops but to this day I am not sure they were real cops. They acted like undercover cops and made me take my helmet off and everything. In hindsight I think these boys were just messing with me because the next demand was that I take off my leather jacket. At that point I stuck my helmet back on and left. When I looked at them through my rear view mirror, they were howling in laughter.

Pfft..... men:shrug:
