In the earlier days of microwaves I think it was on Sharp brand that had turntables because they held a patent on it. Our 1st 2 microwaves were GE, no turntable, and each lasted about 10 years. Yes, one had to turn the food once maybe twice, but it didn't seem to be a problem.
After those two there was a Panasonic, lasted about 3 days past the warranty, same for its successor, and LG, then gave up buying bigger and "better" units and just went for cheap ones from a big box store. Lived here going on 14 years now on our 3rd one. Since they're cheap ones, we're still money ahead from buying the "better" ones. Just use smaller containers to cook in. Those old GE's were the best all of them.
