Does anyone here work at - or worked at Plymouth Naval Base at Devonport in the UK?

Or maybe you live in the area or visit sometimes. Everything in the UK has so much history.
Do you have Plymouth Gin stocked in your bar?
2500 people work at the Naval base.
I come from Tasmania and so many Tasmanian towns have British names.
Some being Beaconsfield, Bellingham, Bishopsbourne, Blackwall, Brighton, Deddington, Devonport, Kempton, Kettering, Launceston, New Norfolk, Orford, Richmond, Sheffield, Somerset, Westbury, Melton Mowbray.
My home town, Queenstown was named after Queen Victoria.

yep...I didn't work there but my first husband was based at Devonport with the Royal Navy.. for a while, as a Petty Officer RN and we lived in Devonport Plymouth..during that time...it's in the west country...

I know you have those names taken from the UK..I have friends in Tasmania and that's how I learned abut Launceton , Devonport etc...

Beaconsfield is a little town not far from here going toward the Midlands.. I was there last summer at the Model Village, you may remember the pictures..

Somerset is also a west country town.. famous for cheese and Cheddar Gorges, & Cider... among other things..

Norfolk is here in the East but on the coat.. and is where I'm hoping I'll find my new home..

Queenstown is a suburb of Blackpool in the North of England just 50 miles from Liverpool

Kettering, county of Northamptonshire .. is about 70 miles north of me

Westbury is the midland in Wilts, near Salisbury Plain..

Richmond is a suburb of South West London

Melton Mowbrey in Leicestershire.. in the Midlands..and Sheffield is Northern English industrial city once very famous for steel and metal woks..

I lived in Launceston, Cornwall for 15 years, Bretrick and I
know the Devonport Dockyard area, I also had friends who
worked there, both serving seamen and civilians.

Every bar in the South West of England used to stock the
Plymouth Gin, I don't know about today though, it is nearly
10 years since I was in a pub, the last time was after a funeral.

Still, I feel a strong bond to Cornwall, plus my Mother and
Father, are buried in Launceston, but all the friends that I
had there have all gone, to the great recycling yard, in the
sky.

Mike.
