My mother taught me how to crochet .. and, over the years, I have crocheted everything under the sun.
Unfortunately, though I've tried many times - I cannot knit.
It's very relaxing to work with yarn.
I may take up knitting again. Mumsy left a big box of yarn behind I bought for her last year. Putting knots into a ball of yarn and hope for something to happen:>). I do know how to crochet. Dress granny square top fabric skirt - Google Shopping
Are you members of Ravelry, the online site?
It’s a great source of just about everything for knitters & crocheters, patterns, loads free, advice, forums, everything you could ever wish to know about yarns etc.
I can knit but have not done so for a long time.
I looked up the history of knitting and was amazed to learn it was originally very much a male dominated skill. I've always seen it as female skill.
I do both. I am currently a member of an amazing local group that meets at the town Recreation Dept. every Friday morning. It is the most welcoming group and we always find something to laugh about. Our membership list says about 28 gals and we regularly have between 18 - 22 every week. I love that camaraderie!
I also spin but using a drop spindle. I crochet, sew, quilt, embroider, and weave (I come from a textile family) and have done bobbin lace along the way. I have my BS Degree in Textile manufacturing. My favorite things to make are fine crochet or knitted lace edgings for pillowcases.
Is everyone on Ravelry.com? Fabulous place to keep project information, trade patterns and learn new techniques. Free site and set me up with instant friends when we moved to New England in 2017. Drop by and leave me a message. I'm on there at Flatearth6.
