Years ago I was told the biggest factor was stress. I haven't been bothered with it in years now so maybe there is new knowledge.

My sympathies. It is painful.

My sympathies. I've known several people who suffer from it. They all used different varations of creams and potions. The only one I knew who got relief from it was a guy I used to work with who had short sun-bed sessions a couple of times a week

A friend of mine had a really bad case of it and he ended up having to go to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota for treatment. I am not suggesting you come up here to the Mayo Clinic, but instead that maybe a specialist would be worth seeing.

One positive aspect for my friend was that we hadn't seen each other since college since he lives in another state, so we got to spend a few days together because the Mayo Clinic is only about 90 minutes south of me. As far as I know, he is now able to manage his condition, though I don't know what was involved. He went home from the Mayo Clinic, so I didn't see him after his treatment.

I sincerely hope that you find a means of controlling your condition. From what my friend told me, it is a real hassle to deal with until it is treated properly.

I get occasional lesions around the ankles and lower calf, usually in cold weather. In fact, I had one on each ankle two weeks ago.

Doc prescribed clobetasol propionate ointment a VERY strong steroid twice a day X 7 days. It's indicated for moderate to severe inflammatory skin conditions. The lesions are completely erased in my cases.

This stuff is nothing to screw with though. It can damage your endocrine system, specifically the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis. You're warned not to use more than two weeks or more than 50 gms. a week. Also, I taper from twice a day to once a day after about 5 days of use.

I still haven't finished the 1st tube (60 gm. tube) from 2016, but the lesions are few and don't come every year.

Everyone is different when it come to successfully treating P. psoriasis.org can enlighten you on the disease. The prescriptions like Humira are outrageously expensive even with Medicare. Diet is critical in taming flareups. There is the Pagano Diet you might want to look at. I would urge you to see a dermatologist as a first step. There is an ointment called Sorion available online only that is pretty effective at reducing redness and MG217 is available at drugstores on their shelves.

Until the end of last year my psoriasis was so bad on my elbows, head, knees etc that it was listed as plaque psoriasis. For years I battled it and at times it quieted down and was only found in my hair and elbows but last year large patches of white scales appeared on my arms and back. I searched and found a new dermatologist and she prescribed ( Cosentyx ) and within a couple weeks the scales started to disappear and the itching stopped and after about 6 weeks it was like I never had psoriasis!

*side note... I am also a sufferer of major gout attacks and found after two months on the injections my gout attacks went from every other week to maybe once a month.

Twinkles, my Doctor prescribed Dovobet" which is the trade
name here for "60 G Calcipotriol 0.005% betamethasone
dipropionate 0.05% Gel", it works well, I also use light therapy
which also helps, if you can put an antiseptic cream on it and
cover it with a bandage, that will take it away for a short time,
but it comes back.

Mike.

Use a washcloth with warm water to remove the scales and apply a steroid cream or an OTC psoriasis cream and keep applying it until it clears up .If you need something stronger an RX for betamethasone cream usually does the trick.
