Does anyone love flying?

I've never flown, but I probably wouldn't like it. I like to have my feet firmly on or near the ground. I'd be William Shatner in the "Twilight Zone" episode 'Nightmare at 20,000 Feet'.

I hate flying, I hate being jammed in a flying tin can with 300 of my new friends, I hate airplane seats, I hate standing in line, I hate delays, I hate airports, I hate airplane bathrooms, I hate being lied to repeatedly by airline employees, I hate paying the Gross National Product for parking, I hate paying 5-star prices for 1-star food at the airport, I hate scanners, I hate being frisked down, I hate taking my shoes off (now that I'm 75, however, I don't have to do that any more), I hate strangers pawing through my personal belongings.

But fly I must, so fly I do.

If it's anything less than a 10-hour drive or if I have time to take a couple of days to get there, I'll gladly drive. Unfortunately, most of my trips are from the east coast to the west coast or out of the country, so I fly.

The only part I didn't care for was landing in heavy fog. That made me a bit nervous, especially landing at S.F. because you come in right over the water, and the pilot cuts back on the engines, and you can't see a damn thing out the window till you're right on the runway.

I have not flown in an aircraft since I got out of the military in 1978. I don't feel like saying why but it is military related.

Ditto for me, except I'm not yet 75. Don't have to take off my shoes with TSA precheck.

Not since the young pilot was super close to landing the plane on the runway in San Diego when he suddenly swooshed up and said over the intercom "Sorry folks, we're going to try that again". He circled way out over the ocean, crossed low over the crowded interstate hwy and finally landed the plane
