Real name- Muhammad Saeed al-Sahhaf

He came to worldwide prominence around the 2003 invasion of Iraq, during which he was the Minister of Information under Iraqi President Saddam Hussein, acting as spokesman for the Arab Socialist Ba'ath Party and Saddam's government. He has also been nicknamed Baghdad Bob or Comical Ali (a play on "Chemical Ali") for his notable and colorful television appearances as the Information Minister of Iraq.

Does anyone remember some of his quotes and predictions?

If I recall correctly, he was always saying something-or-other was not happening, when it actually was — and there was proof that it was.

I think I remember him. He was the most disillusioned person during the Gulf War. The Information Minister reporting and believing whatever was handed to him by the Iraqi government and military. He's a legend.

Its a wonder he didn't start his own comedy show after the war.

I'm not able to quote him, but I can just about remember him reporting something about the coalition throwing boobytraps disguised as pencils at Iraqi Villagers.

Update. Just found these quotes:
  1. "There are no American infidels in Baghdad. Never!"
  2. "My feelings - as usual - we will slaughter them all."
  3. "They are not near Baghdad. Don't believe them. It's not true. This is part of their sick mind."
  4. "We have destroyed 2 tanks, fighter planes, 2 helicopters and their shovels - We have driven them back."
  5. "The authority of the civil defense...issued a warning to the civilian population not to pick up any of those pencils because they are booby traps. They are booby traps...just like spaghetti...only deadlier."
