Does It Worry You How Much the Young Have Not Lived Through?

It doesn't bother me at all. "The young" are having to face some really ugly things today that we couldn't have even dreamed up at their age.
I think what is worse for the young, but it has spread to the old too, is online bullying. Especially for women.

There are far too many horrible men online and so few laws to make them face actual consequences when they harass women.

But in terms of historical events, IDK. I wonder if even all the school shootings equal a World War or a 10-year long Great Depression?

I think "the young" are going through enough on their own rather than wishing other woes on them.
I’m not wishing our woes upon them. I’m saying when I have met and attempted to WORK with young people, LORDY, their hatred of the old rises up like incense smoke to heaven calling for our destruction as a people.

I was watching “Hacking Your Mind” today on PBS and it explained that to me. All young people have an implicit bias of DISLIKE toward the elderly. LUCKY US.

Not worried at all. They will have their own events that they will have lived through by the time they reach out age. Most likely most of us will not experience some of those events.

I just hope they are enjoying their younger years the best that they can.
I worry when they get to be in their 60s and 70s they will look back at how mean some of them were to us, and then they will realize, “Oh wow. I was a real dip**** to those old people. Now I understand what they were trying to say. I was an idiot."

But, by then, it will be too late to apologize because we’ll all be dead.

It gives me no comfort at all to know they will figure it all out in 30 years. All they have to do is learn history and grow some empathy, today.

CB language seems to come into most all communications.
It's sort of like the person in traffic that can't stand to follow someone.
They just have to pass them up, then turn right at the next light.

But even at the Carwash the Greeter starred at his smart phone screen yesterday while waving me into the traps.
Sure, I stopped and waited while he kept starring at his smart phone video.
So, I guess it's the Video that can't shut up that's worser. ... :ROFLMAO: ...

The Pretty girls when out shopping help smooth all the negativity too.

WRONG! Wish it weren't so, but wrong; must be true as people keep offering to help me, open doors for me, carry things for me, jump up to give me their seats on mass transit, etc. So, there are happy advantages!
Ok, let me rephrase that. On the forum here, you appear way younger than your age. It’s a good thing.

Things usually spin out of control because some arms hole command it. The innocent can only
React after the facts are obvious.

I've always been a worrier. But with time, my worries have whittled down quite a bit. I think its because I am finally grasping a couple of things.

- The things you worry about most rarely happen. Goodness, I do my best to keep that in mind, for it is so true.

- Worrying about things you can impact is one thing, worrying about things you can't is another, and an emotional waste.

- The world of our early years is not the same world as today's young people enjoy. Think about it, was the world of our teens and twenties the same as our parents? Not hardly.

Today I saw a field 0f Soybeans sprayed with a Drone with 4 Rotors and about 5’
across the middle carrying a 5 gallon can of spray. Fields next to it I could see the Corn Dying yellowing and wilting. When I was a kid I had to go out in the field and cut out the volunteer corn stalks. Maybe they were spraying for aphids to ?

My son has started teaching his six year old about WWII. I'm proud!

THAT is encouraging. I cannot see any of our "New Youth" being able to endure conditions like this for America, their homeland.

Stopping the draft was ONE of the stupidest things we ever allowed to happen.
SHAME on us !!!!! :(

Respectfully, I disagree. I think if you give some politicians a ready supply of soldiers, they have a hard time resisting playing with them on the global stage, as if foreign policy is nothing but a 3D chess game.

Gosh, I was trying to watch some cable TV news and blam, that’s it, I had to shut it off. SO MUCH HYPERBOLE over current events. So much obsession. Makes me wish for a hurricane or major earthquake so they’d think of something else to cover.

The young, they have never seen the Vietnam War on the news nightly, never seen the shootings of RFK, MLK, or even Reagan. Never saw the 1968 Convention or Nixon resign on air. It’s always shocking when it happens, but it's OK. The person in question is OK now. The other person also did not die - he’s just retiring. IT’S GOING TO BE OK. The system, is designed so it will be OK.

I just want them all to freakin’ MEDITATE once an hour and during commercial breaks. Calm the **** down!

Anyway, I know it’s all Hysteria to get People to Tune In, but Lord I am sick and tired of it.

I think so many of these younger reporters really need to have served a year in Haiti or Venezuela. Then they could see what real internal chaos is.

Whitman from Leaves of Grass:

you shall no longer take things at second or third hand,

Nor look through the eyes of the dead,

Nor feed on the spectres in books,

You shall not look through my eyes either,

Nor take things from me,

You shall listen to all sides and filter them from yourself.

There was never more inception than there is now,

Nor any more youth or age than there is now;

And will never be any more perfection than there is now,

Nor any more heaven or hell than there is now.

Mr. Whitman is entitled to his opinion.
