does part time work = retired

Fully retired and don't plan to work anymore either full or part time. I imagine if I really needed the money to survive, I'd get a part time job...but I'd rather live more frugally than work again. Worked all my adult life, looking forward to the day where I wouldn't have to punch a timeclock anymore.

This thread has me thinking. It will be a sad day when I have to hang up my wings. A very sad day indeed.

I hope you won't have to, Oldman. The government has now raised the retirement age to 75. Does the FAA have age restrictions??

I think part time work still qualifies as work. Sure, why not. Do you something for someone else, or are self employed and receive payment. That sounds like work to me.

I agree. When you don't need the job, and the boss knows it, its a whole different relationship.

there is a lot of truth in that.....I am way more independent at the hardware than any of the others, one fellow worker asked, "how do you get away with that." all I could say was..."dave, you have to be able and ready to just walk away." and I was....

I'm with you, SB. You don't need a lot of "stuff". There are so many things that we "need" that are really all about maintaining our image to our peers. After you're retired long enough they either die or it becomes too much effort all around to entertain each other. I live in my sweats. I only pull on a pair of pants to go food shopping.

We don't need a lot of stuff, unless travel counts as 'stuff', oh and our electric bikes which we really love. We could give up some holidays and buy a new car since ours is 12 years old, and we could use a new roof. But we are going to keep fixing both for now. No guarantee on how long both of us will continue to be healthy and fit. So GO GO GO!

My employer knows that I can walk whenever I felt like it... AND yes.. that is an advantage.. especially since my nursing specialty is one that is very difficult to replace without major training and orientation.. I don't take advantage, but I do pretty much do as I please.

Yeah. Roofs and cars. The retirees nemesis. My car is 6 years old and my roof is over 26. Both seem in good shape, but can't go on forever. Hoping to die before they do. Never knew anyone with an electric bike. Like them?
Annie, you know the score, Yes. "GO GO GO!", and do it NOW!

We LOVE our electric bikes. Had several threads with bike ride photos on here. Longest ride in one day - 66 miles. We do have to pedal, but it is much easier and so are hills. Decided 50 should be our limit. Our bikes are worth more than our car now!
