Does the Price of Gas Vary Much in Your Town/City?

Still love 50's & 60's music!
In my town one place has gas for $2.87 a gallon, while a convenience store, Stewart's, is charging $3.09 a gallon. 22¢ a gallon more. Stewart's has about 6 pumps, and their usually empty. The other place has 4 pumps, and their always occupied. I have to drive around for a few minutes until there is an empty pump.

I have seen a 40 cent difference and more! I have noticed some neighbors tend to charge more. No where is it below $3. Some places are barely below $4. Most are over $4.

We had a law against people pumping their own gas. Now we can pump our own gas but I don't want to, so I go to one gas station and tip the person who fills my tank. The problem is every time I get gas, it is a new person pumping gas, not someone who might remember I tip.

It varies by about forty cents a gallon around town and a bit higher than that in the suburban communities.

The closer the gas station is to a major highway, like a multi-lane Interstate, the more the gas will cost. Locals buy cheaper gas in town.
same here , the clocer to the matorway the hgher it gets, and on the motorway are all the most expensive Petrol garages which are all part of a service station stop, which included cafe's and restaurants..

In town, it depends who's e selling, i it's BP it 's always going to be the highest.. next would be Shell.. a few pence per litre less than BP.. then Esso, .. and then the supermarket garages tend to be the cheapest.... and then cheapest of all is Costco..by about 50 pence on the gallon.. so a full tank can easily save about £7 ( approx £10 USD).. if filling up at Costco...

The drawback with Costco is that there's very few of them countrywide.. and the majorit of people have to travel 2 hours or more to their nerest one......I'm fortunate that I live within 20 miles of 2....

Yes. I'm in California, so paying more. I stopped at Safeway grocery store to get gas this morning. There little gas station area to pay cash was closed. Not sure the issue, this happened a couple of months ago. Perhaps staffing. I went to 7-Eleven. It was slightly more there.

I could have used a card at Safeway but didn't want to.

Branded gas (ie shell, texaco ect) is whatever their charge and your markup totals. We never sold unbranded simply because we wanted guaranteed delivery at a guaranteed price. Of course this meant conforming to that company’s standards for their stations …or they could jerk the contract. Here in the vally prices also fluctuate depending on taxes ect.

Don't really know everything is so close I only fill tank about once a month. That is at Sam's club where as best as I know is usually 40cents less than other places. Just checked the price @ $3.45.9 a gallon

Petrol/gas, here costs between, in dollars, $7.83 per Gallon
at Sainsbury's Supermarket, $8.22 at the only oil company
Shell Station.

I was on a bus tour yesterday and the tour guide pointed out gas stations that were charging less than $3 as interesting sites, ha ha. But they were way out of town, in the suburbs I think our prices are around $3.25 a gallon. I just pay whatever the closest station charges, I only use a half a tank per month (unless I travel) and I figure driving any further to a lower priced station would burn up most (or all) of the savings.

Don't worry. Pretty soon it'll all be cashless and your price will vary based on your social credit score... if you are allowed more gas this month.

All about the same here. I live an hour or so from an Indian Reservation, and usually go there as there are no taxes. Save a lot
WoW, no taxes.. the fuel duty on every litre of petrol and diesel in the uk is set at almost 53p...so 4.5 litres make up ONE gallon...so £2.39 out of every gallon of fuel is Tax ! so filling my car which holds 45 litres...( apprx 12 gallons) I pay £23.85 approx, to the government in Tax..! Absolute disgrace!

sooo cheap...approx £2.64 .in uk pounds... aside from Costco which this week is £5.89 per gallon uk....which is equal to $7.68 USD...

the next cheapest petrol is at the supermarket the euivelent of $8.04 USD.....per Gallon

I remember some years ago on here, I was saying how much we pay for fuel compared to the US... and the poster replied..I don't believe that because no-one could possibly afford to drive if that was the case... well we can't afford it, they were right there... but we HAVE to...we have no choice..

Regular unleaded is generally the same everywhere around here. GasBuddy may show another nearby town is significantly different. Then one station here will bump their price up 10 cents or more per litre. They’re are still folks filling up, because they pay no attention to the signs or they want the bonus points with using the branded card.

The prices tend to vary with Premium gas, which we use.

We have 3 type of unleaded... 95 octane ( now known as E10 , and years ago was known as Standard petrol) which is the cheapest which I use in my ford... Premium Unleaded RON 98 octane which is a little bit more expensive per litre despite it being called premium is only stadard etrol and available everywhere in Europe .., and the Super premium Unleaded, which is used in higher performance cars like my O/H's Maserati and costs significantly more..

Don’t Brits tend to have smaller cars. Do you have huge pickups and SUVs taking up half of a parking lot. These folks ‘need‘ them. 🙄
this is quite a misnomer.. we do have large cars..we also have small cars, and in fact I was looking at a street video yesterday of 5th avenue NYC.. and cars parked both sides of the road.. and with the exception of a couple of massive vans.. all the cars looked exactly like any uk car... there was even Mini-coopers there..

Big 4x4's are very popular here among the younger generations, used mainy t tke kids to school, abone of contention when it comes to parking outside of schools...

My daughter drives a Rav 4..that size of vehice is the most popular among the British public...

if you want to see small cars Italy is the place....

Our gas prices in Canada are about the same as yours. One of the reasons we bought an EV.
