In memory of my Jamaican friend Lorna, from many years ago. That is what she called me. We worked in same office.
I still have faint Scottish accent and she had Jamaican accent and we used to make conversation trying each other accents.
What fun we had. Her brother, who was a doctor, thought we were both nuts:LOL::LOL::LOL:
I still miss her......

My father was stationed there when he was in the AF, in the 50s. The base was pretty new then, and secret. A big change for him from Louisiana. After its existence was declassified he talked about the weather a lot.

It was a remote assignment, my mother and I stayed home. I was too young to remember, but I think my mother believed he was in Germany.
I stopped there in March. It was still very cold. Why anyone as a civilian would want to live there is beyond me. At least they save money on a/c.

I was nearing retirement and a young pilot referred to me as “oldman.” The supervisor heard him, called him into the office and I guess he reamed him out for being disrespectful. The young pilot spent most of our flight apologizing and telling me he had all the respect in the world for me, etc. I had to finally tell him to stop it. It’s over and I’m OK with it. We flew together a few more times before I retired and I enjoyed my time with him. He was actually one of those people that wanted to learn and asked a lot of questions, which a lot of pilots find annoying, but I never did. If I thought you wanted to learn, I was happy to teach you.
During WW2, bomber crews would call a 25 year old an "old man".

It was the name of a character in a novel I wrote in the 1990s. The book was accepted by a literary agent, but when I moved out of state I gave up on it. Lost my copy of the manuscript. I'd always thought of rewriting it, which wouldn't be impossible, but never got around to it.
I wish I could change my screen name, but I don't think it's possible on this forum.

There was a thread about profile pictures but I can't find it now. Please meet Brandy. She has long passed of old age but this was her in my new profile picture. She had only one eye when she was found. The vet eventually did close it. She was very sweet but a little jumpy, not feral. We don't know what ever had happened to her but I'm glad she was found and had her life.

I would never dream of telling all you wonderful people the nicknames associated with me, well, I mean, 'dozy old b*gger', 'silly old sod', 'airhead with a puncture', come on, non of you would believe that people use those names about me.... you would, I'm going for a lie down.... 😊

Well... Marie is obvious, my name. 56 Has been a family special number for many years. Back in the 70s, my older brother started a business, it became sucessful and the rest, for him, is history. Any way, the building number was 56. The family has adopted it...and we use it in user names, email addresses, etc. In fact, when I owned my mobile home in Rochester, I was assigned the atreet address of 56!!!

My username (Timoc) was my nickname at school, there were two with the name 'Tim' in our class, one was me, the other was, Timothy Ivor Thomas, guess what we called him? 😊
