Dog Island - Would You Send Your Dog There?

Noooo! Belle would wreak carnage on their little Utopia. She's an anthrophile, she only likes and tolerates humans. She detests other dogs, or any other lifeform, on her territory, and is totally lacking in social graces when encountering them elsewhere. She simply doesn't know how to, nor shows any desire to, get along with other dogs at all. I sure wouldn't trust her with a visiting Chihuahua if you take my meaning, she would see it as prey. She's a lethal mouser, I can vouch for that.

But she's all wriggles and smiles for people. Any people. Luvs 'em all. Weird little thing. She was raised from a very small puppy with a quiet older version of herself but gave poor old Kirra hell the whole time. Belle bossed and monstered her from day one. The day Belle left with me I'm told was the happiest of Kirra's life.

That description of all those dogs getting along and setting up their little social 'townships' even if true, I suspect would be be pure hell for Belle, not her scene at all. Like me, I think she'd prefer a desert island over a canine Wisteria Lane.

That site puts my hackles up. Are they recruiting for laboratory specimens? Free accommodation?? Really? It reads like a Nigerian lottery letter to me. I'd be runnin' a mile.

Methinks something smells in the state of Denmark.
How long is forever?

That's what my instincts were screaming out. If Di and I are both thinking along these lines then wisdom would suggest caution.

Di, I was thinking all of that, too. Our dog (well, he's not really 'our' dog...but he stayed and won't leave) :D does not want other dogs around; doesn't matter how big they are, he chases them out of the yard..or likes to think he does. They pretty much ignore him, and go their way, but he likes to think he's vicious and they're scared of him. He's a people dog, for sure.

Boy, does that ever sound like some type of Nigerian scam to me. Assuming it was on the straight and narrow, the majority of well pampered dogs might enjoy this for a couple of hours, like they would a doggie park. However, their human(s) are part of their pack, and forcing a dog to assimilate into another pack and find it's place would be very stressful on the dog. They mentioned allowing the dog to find it's partner. Dogs don't form partnerships, they are pack driven with a definite order, so I have to question their understanding of dog psychology.

Their statement apologizing to "poor" people raised a red flag as well. Nope, don't think if I were wealthy I would be caught on some remote island with those characters.

Lol, being the dog lover that I am, I actually became angry when I navigated around that site, I was appalled and angry that these money hungry bastards would do anything to make a buck. Then found out that it wasn't real, just a fun hoax type site made by someone with a lot of time on their hands. :playful:
