Dog walking for cash

For a person who is in good shape and good with dogs ..dog walking might be a good way to pick up extra money. Dog walkers ARE NOT cheap in the city. No one uses them out here.

I see dog walkers a lot. Sometimes with four or five dogs at a time. I'm in suburbia. The cold up here might prevent a lot of people from doing this though.

Hey, fur! Is this something that you could do? "Cash" was the word that caught my eye!!!!

I used to pet sit, sometimes walking two dogs at most at a time, I miss it, but had to stop as it was a case of cause and effect and exacerbated my bursitis in my shoulders. Even the smallest dogs pulling on the leashes just put too much pressure on the area. I also used to volunteer at a pet shelter and walked the dogs there. I even kept some neighbors pets for as much as two weeks when they went out of the country.

I really miss doing these activities, but for anyone who doesn't have the issues, is looking for part-work and enjoys the company of animals, dog walking would be a nice way to make a some extra money.

This was at the shelter charity doggie/car wash event, that's my arm holding the leash. :)

The following are pooches I used to pet sit, the two in the cage, I kept for extended overnight stays they're miniature pinschers. All three would be at my place at the same time, talk about fun, the terrier mix, was a sneaky little bugger, would start trouble with them and play innocent when I came into the room, but I knew Frenchie was the instigator. :tapfoot:

At night they slept near me. :)

AWWWWW I want them all. Dog walking is a pretty good business around here. There's this one woman who absolutely stops traffic...We see her all the time with at least fifteen dogs. I am not exaggerating. Two are hers, the rest are who she walks. All sizes, ages, breeds, at the same time. My two idiots are too strong to walk together...fifteen is amazing.

I have been a "dog nanny"....that's how the job was described to me. I lived at the house with the dogs whenever the owner had to be out of town or came for the day if the owner was in town but had to be out for the day. These dogs were not used to being alone for more than a couple of hours at a time, but were never to be walked (that I was grateful for). I did have to let the dogs sleep on the bed with me (that I was NOT grateful about). I only did it for two months, thank goodness.

I was a goldfish sitter for a while in Manhattan - you'd be surprised how many of the well-heeled folks on the Upper East Side want someone to sit with their fish. Walking them was never a problem, except it was more of a "drag" than a "walk".

Not many repeat customers, though ... I don't know why ...

If we lived in an area where people hired dog walkers that would be a good job for my husband as he loves to walk and he loves dogs.

I liked all the dog pics on here.

Does anyone remember on The King of Queens TV show where Carrie was laid off her job and so she started walking dogs. I think she was getting $12 an hour and she found a kid at the park who loved dogs and would walk them free for her.

The mountain community I live in should be called Dogsville! There's probably at least 2 dogs for every one resident, on average. There are two dog parks, one of them on the lake, that are well used. It's not that easy making a decent living here, so there are quite a few dog sitting/dog walking services that advertise on Craigslist, in the local paper, and have posts at the local pet stores and animal hospitals. I could use a little extra income for sure, and have thought about throwing my hat in the ring to provide services.............but I have my own motley pack of 5 mutts and would probably feel guilty taking time away from them to take care of someone else's furkids.

I remember that one, it was on last night. She gave the kid $1 to walk all of the dogs. Then she went to the movies! lol. :)

I wouldn't mind dog walking but I have to get in much better shape first. My knee has been acting up and my ankle is so stiff after being in the cast.
