Dollar Tree (or a Dollar Store near you)

In my area the Dollar Tree sells everything for $1.00. The Dollar Store, Family Dollar and Dollar General all have reduced price items. Five Below is another outlet type store that sells everything for….you guessed it!…$5.00 or below!

If I need a food or a household item to be good quality and/or hold up over the long haul, as a general statement I don’t buy from these stores. The exceptions are decorative items because they’re not actually used, just put on display. I’ve gotten all kinds of things for my kitchen, bathroom, living room as we’ve remodeled and redecorated, that don’t look cheap but are inexpensive and perfect for our decor.

From the Dollar Tree I buy containers for organizing purposes, (drawer organization etc) cheap plastic containers with lids as to-go containers for family dinners so I can send everyone home with food, gift wrap, tissue paper, ribbon etc and seasonal decorations that I throw away after use (window cling gels, paper signage, plastic tablecloths etc)
The Five Below website looks good, but I didn't know they had actual stores, too.
I heard they took over Hollar, which was where I bought a lot of household products.

There's a Dollar General and a Family Dollar nearby. They look pretty shabby, but I was surprised when I went in the Family Dollar today. Everything looked like it had been moved around - floors were clean and not many merchandise racks clogging the aisle waiting to be unloaded onto the shelves. They had almost everything I was looking for, especially Stauffer's Whales crackers which they hadn't stocked in over a month, but they didn't have any potting soil. Looked like new and more personnel which were friendly.

Kitchen utensils, broom, mop and dustpan. I had a 3' steel shaft, I stuck it in the handle of the broom. Made it last months with no issues.

Even though I didn't use it a lot of the toothpaste definitely the hair soap, body wash and bar soap was a great value. Some cologne I bought there too and for at that time a buck and a quarter it was quite a good deal.

Oh and I forgot to mention the 12V chargers you use in your vehicle. Great for phones, tablets and computers.

I buy weird stuff- the one of a kind thing you need. I could buy the same thing at Walmart, Target, etc., but at the Dollar store, it's right in and right out. There's no hassle with a huge parking lot , like at the big box stores.
(BTW, I've checked Dollar store food prices. I found them to be a lot higher than a grocery store. Yet, there are some with carts piled high with food items.)

We have a family dollar which as pretty much the closest store near our house. We primarily pick up soda there as they often have a '4 for 2' sale on pepsi product 2 liters.

But yes, some of the stuff there is cheap. I bought a box cutter once and it was just awful. Would constantly get stuck when trying to open and close. Ended up having to buy another elsewhere.
