Dont Forget To Lock The Front Door.

Time for a little old-fashioned security ..

Never before have we had so many people climbing over the White house fence, or trying to do that, as we have had lately. It might have happened on a few occasions before; but now it seems like we are hearing that someone tried to get in the White House one way or another, almost every week.
This last one is the most bizarre of all ! Why would there be ANY door of the White House left open, or even unlocked in the first place; and how likely is it that someone would get over the fence at just the right place to run for that particular door ? ?
This seems beyond coincidenal to me.
This person was apparently under medical treatment (probably at the VA, since he was a vet), and might have been given some kind of mind-altering drug that made him delusional and thinking that the atmosphere was collapsing; but that still doesn't explain why and how he was able to make a run for the only unlocked door of the White House, nor why he was not stopped before he got there.

It happens in the best of houses.
1982: Queen fends off bedroom intruder

A man has broken into Buckingham Palace and spent ten minutes talking to the Queen in her bedroom.

At around 0715 BST Michael Fagan, 31, scaled the walls around the palace and shinned the drain-pipe up to the Queen's private apartments.

Barefooted and wearing a t-shirt the unemployed father of four evaded electronic alarms and palace and police guards before disturbing the Queen by opening a curtain.

Mr Fagan is already due to appear at Bow Street Magistrates' Court tomorrow to face charges of trespass and stealing half a bottle of wine from Buckingham Palace on 7 June.

Smoked out

The Queen was only able to raise the alarm when he asked for a cigarette.
She calmly called for a footman who held the intruder until police arrived.
The incident happened as the armed police officer outside the royal bedroom came off duty before his replacement - apparently out walking the dogs - arrived.

This is the sixth breach of security at the Queen's London residence this year and raises serious questions about how well protected she is.

Last month a man with a knife burst into the forecourt of Buckingham Palace and last year three German tourists camped in the grounds, believing it to be Hyde Park. It is the first time that private royal apartments have been penetrated since Queen Victoria's reign, although the Queen Mother disturbed an army deserter in her bathroom during the Second World War.

There have been fence jumpers since I was a kid, but the terrorism threats & putting everything under a media microscope makes them seem like more. That being said, I dont understand why there arent armed guards at every WH entrance.

That attack dogs were suppose to be with these armed guard, still waiting for that answer.
Those dogs would have taking down that intruder within 100 yards of that WH door.

it does seem bizarre doesn't it? There is so much security surrounding the President and then this happens, sort of easily.Just the same as the mentally unbalanced man in the Queen's bedroom.

Well, I still can't add links with my iPad, but here is the gist of what I was just reading on Fox News about the latest fence-jumper.
Fox reports that Gonzales had over 800 rounds of ammunition in his vehicle, and more weapons.
He had also been arrested several times before, and had weapons each time.
Not only that, but this is not the first time he was stopped trying to get to the White House; but the last time, he was not able to get inside the fence before he was stopped.
Law enforcement officials also report that on one of his previous arrests, he had a map of the DC area with the White House and Masonic Temple circled on it.

It appears that he had a fairly long military career, starting in 1997, and a disability discharge in 2012. This seems like he must have been a dependable person for at least most of that time, to stay in the service for all of those years.
Apparently, he has been homeless for a while, and maybe just living out of his vehicle. He must have either some income, or a way to get weapons, because each time her was arrested, the weapons were confiscated, and hekept acquiring more.

It is indeed odd and a door left open. Quite bizarre. Hope it's not a test run.

First thing I thought was that they were busy texting on their cellphones. :playful:

Possibly, I see this happening everywhere I go, people on the clock, paying more attention to their phones and texting instead of tending to their assigned job, even if lives are at stake.
