Don't know the online code to get savings?

Tried to buy a blanket online, yesterday. Supposedly it was $99. But if you enter this code, the price was only $60. And since it's June sale time, enter this code, so now it cost $46. That's a$53 difference.
It irks me when I order something and there's a box for a code, and I don't have one, so I know I'm overpaying.
(I know somebody is going to come up with site for codes, but most have been out of date since the 90s.)
What do think when you order something and they ask for a code, but you don't have one?
