So, on Coffee Corner @Meanderer posted the following picture. That powdered donut photo reminded me how much I love those six pack sleeves of powdered donuts with my coffee, especially when I am on a road trip!

Oh, the power of suggestion! What do you enjoy with coffee if calories or sugar were no problem? american-eskimo-dog-face-happy-puppy-art-coffee-mug-zazzle-v0-Zsb5HGLyQwiUbDz23QB1-EeA1ARcacaR...jpg

It's Blueberry yogurt, along with a simple bakery treat. Sometimes we add blueberries to the yogurt. A good start to the day.:coffee:🍩

I never met a doughnut I didn’t like! 😉🤭😂

I remember, the folks at Freihofer’s used to make an orange glazed cake doughnut that was good.

Peanut sticks are a favorite.

When I started working in the early 70s there was a Downyflake restaurant in Center City that had a small doughnut machine in the front window.

The warm greasy doughnuts from that dirty looking old machine were wonderful on a cold winter morning. 🐷🐷🐷

Jelly filled doughnut covered with powder sugar or one filled with Bavarian cream & with chocolate frosting on top ... or maybe an apple fritter doughnut.

I love the 10-piece Timbits from Tim Horton's so I get an assortment to eat.

My tastes are more to savoury food than sweet and I wouldn't choose to have a doughnut with coffee. Not keen on them at all. On the occasions when I go out for coffee with my friend, I have either a toasted teacake or simply toast and butter. At home it would be fruit and/or yoghurt with my coffee.
And now we know why Pam is still tiny after all these years.

As a lousy diabetic, donuts are a "no-no". Yeah, some skinny dietician will say you can just have a nibble, but my arm just won't stop grabbing donuts till they are all gone. Bad, bad arm. ;)
Whoever told you that is full of it. Being a diabetic is a balancing act. My old Diabetic Educator taught me a lot of stuff about how you can literally "Have your cake and eat it too." If I want something sweet, instead of thinking no I can't have that, think of how you can eat your sweet treat and balance it out with something later that is lower on sugar and will offset your treat.

When my son and I head out for coffee, if Dunkin' is open we stop and grab 4 Apple Fritters. We take them home and cut them in half, and each of us eats half of one with our coffee. Now being a bad diabetic isn't really bad if you cut some carbs later, and eat some protein. If you go for a walk or better yet, a bike ride you burn carbs and calories. But the key is when you eat something sweet, balance it out by following it up with some high-fiber foods like fruits with skin, nuts, yogurt, and drink plenty of water.

This healthy advice on Balance has been brought to you by the guy who can't walk ten feet without hanging on to something. :ROFLMAO:

The donuts I had growing up from the local Mom and Pop bakery were miles above anything the popular chain stores have. There are still one or two I only go to.
There used to be a place like that in Marietta, Ohio. People lined up for their donuts every day, they were square and very heavy, I think each held about a half cup each of sugar and lard. Everything compared with them was just an anemic poor relation.
