Downton Abbey 'A new Era'..

DA fan here for sure. Even my son liked it. Yes, I'll be seeing the movie, too. I don't care if it's historically inaccurate. I like it anyway.

Also liked the Doc Martin series.

And...I wasn't fond of London. At all. Too big. Too dirty. Too noisy. The only differences between London and NYC were the accents and the cars driving on different sides of the road.

I liked the West Country a lot and was fascinated by Winchester and Winchester Cathedral. And I liked all the little hamlets we passed through when driving around the countryside. Every one of them had a High Street. Guess that's equivalent to our Main Streets, except that many towns here have main streets with a "real" name.

Winchester is in the south, not the west country ... in Hampshire.. . I used to live in Hampshire when I was a young naval wife.. The New forest is in Hampshire.. ( google it ).. it's where @horseless carriage lives..

@hollydolly Yes. I know that. You must have figured that since both were in the same sentence that I thought they were in the same area!

I knew if I just waited a couple of months, I'd be able to stream Downton Abbey A New Era. Sure enough, it's being offered on Peacock+ (premium). I have the free version right now but I'll pay the $4.99 for a month. The good part is that unlike paying other streaming services to rent one movie, when subscribing to premium Peacock, I get to watch other movies as well. There are two others I'd like to see. I will cancel the premium subscription after I watch them because I'm not interested in their premium choices coming in July.

I just watched it free streaming on Peacock and really enjoyed it. I never got into it on PBS because it seemed so slow moving, stereotyped and repetitive. this version seemed to sum up the history while advancing the new plot at a comfortable pace to me.

How did you watch it free and I had to pay for a subscription to Peacock+ to be able to watch it?!

Somehow my basic cable subscription is including Peacock “for a limited period of time”. I probably wouldn’t have if I’d had to pay extra for it.

Two questions: Did you watch the first Downton Movie or Downton Abbey: A New Era. The latter is what I had to subscribe to P+ to see. Does your cable package include free Peacock or Peacock+? I'll unsubscribe to P+ sometime before my next payment is due and subscribe again when they offer other movies I'm anxious to see.

It was A New Era, and just plain Peacock, not +. I just haven’t paid much attention to it, not into often watching movies on tv, just wanted to see that one.
