Dr. Fauci Says Temperature Checks Are Useless

So, if it turns out that temperature checks are not reliable, that means that nothing else is, eh, Win?

That would mean that if you have all the symptoms of cancer, you shouldn't bother going for a biopsy, because taking your temperature wouldn't prove anything?

Looks like you're confused.

I pulled this from the attachment-Temperature checks aren’t useless. They are capable of catching some cases, and should be treated as just another tool to use alongside others, like masks and social distancing. But when it comes to monitoring and containing the coronavirus, officials believe testing is it still the best option, McClatchy News said.

Does anyone not know your temperature can change several times in any given day?

I thought it can vary by 1 or 2 degrees. This is the first I've heard of temp varying 5 degrees without a fever.

Dealing with Covid19 is a learning experience for all of us.

I'm happy to have people like Dr. Fauci tell us what he and other scientists know when they know it and not be afraid to explain changes as they are recognized.

I don't think that point in time testing has much value for the individual because they could be infected an hour after taking the test. I do think that testing is of great value in determining the infection rate among a group of people in a community, university, nursing home, etc...

The one statistic that I don't believe has any value is the big scary total number of cases that is hyped on the news each day. The fact that 5,500,000 confirmed cases have been found in the United States since the start of the pandemic has little value in understanding where we are now and where we are headed.

I agree. The numbers we need to hear are the deaths and the number of those still hospitalized, assuming those with lasting severe effects will be hospitalized. Having the virus and then returning to good health is not all that important. Total numbers at this point are just good for shock effect.

It's important to keep up with where your own particular area is in current infections, your county, your zip. If it was readily apparent that one was infected, the new infection rate would not continue to rise so fast.

I had my COVID 19 test today. The tech told me that it may be 2-3 days before I hear the results. I have to have a procedure done next week and they ordered the test 1 week in advance.
