Dried cilantro a bad choice

I always like the taste of cilantro (some people detest it), so when I saw it available in the spice section of the store, I bought some. What a waste of money! It was tasteless. Why is it sold that way if it has no flavor?

I can't think of any use for dried coriander leaves (cilantro). Coriander seeds, however, are a very nice addition to some savory dishes.

Good question debodun! I love the flavor of fresh cilantro and love cooking with it. I keep the jars of dried stuff on hand for the times that I get the impulse to cook and don't want to go to the store, but it takes a full jar of the stuff just to give the hint of flavor. There is a cilantro stir-in paste made by Gourmet Garden that is made with 3 bunches of fresh cilantro and has a long refrigerator life. But nothing can compare to fresh.
